Since when did Toyota start doing this? Was looking at new Tundras and the only have the option for a V6 engine. Tacomas only have the option for 4 cyclinder engines?? Pretty disappointing. What vehicles of theirs do they install V8's in at the moment?

Purchase a Chevy/GMC/Ford and you can have your 8 cylinders. My F150 sounds fantastic.

By 4 cylinder...you mean 4cylinder turbo hybrid only engine option

Uh, yeah. 4 cylinder. And a little battery.
It's sad.

They went away from the 5.7 V8 in the tundra like 3 years ago. Very disappointing move by them.

And the sequoias only come in a 6 cylinder hybrid now.

The V6 turbos make more than enough power and torque for the truck if that’s what you’re worried about. More than a bare bones V8.
I guess you could question reliability but it’s Toyota.
The hybrid make really good power if that’s your thing.

A 21 Land Cruiser with 60k miles is going for more than those new V4 land cruisers.
I really liked the new GX too but they put a turbo V6 in it. I guess that’s the same engine as the new tundra

But it comes with the smug self satisfaction that we’re saving the planet!

That was a damn good engine. I had a 08 Tunrda that made it close to 300K. And it probably would have made it if my 18 yr old son didn’t think he could “dive it a few more miles” when it was over heating.
I’ll be in the market for a truck in about another year. The Tundra was going to be one of my top options to look at and the 5.7 V8 was one of the main reasons why. But if all they have is a V6 Tundras now, then I won’t waste my time.

Yeah so it sounds like a broken weed eater from the outside, but because of the hybrid battery it also has horrible cargo space inside.
I couldn’t be much more disappointed in the new Land Cruiser.

Supreme Court chevron ruling should be able to roll this back

I bought a 2025 Tundra with the V6 three months ago. No complaints and it pulls everything my V8 F150 used to pull.
