Please recommend a new true crime podcast for me, preferably with a Louisiana or Southern subject. I just finished Gone South (Margaret Coon) and Beyond Bardstown (Lacombe/Nanette Krentel) and really enjoyed them because I was familiar with the area. Thanks!

I find most of them to be annoying with generic SAHM hosts except for Killer Psyche.

Dark topic by Jack Luna. Nothing southern about it, but it's by far the best one out there.

In the red clay. It’s about the Memphis mafia and Billy Bart.

Small Town Murder

Each episode is a different case and it’s a comedy podcast. It’s all explained in the opening credits. You can start with areas you know and expand from there. Or simply start with the Phillips, Oklahoma episode as your first. That one is the most recommended as a “first” listen when introducing this podcast people.

I’m genuinely curious, what about true crime podcasts and shows fascinates people so much?

Casual Criminalist is very entertaining and well researched, but it's not Southern/LA centric

Psychopaths are charismatic. We are psychologically designed to pay attention to things that threaten us or humanity. Similar to fascination with sharks.

It’s not southern but definitely worth checking out if you’re into crime/horror.

I am not trying to knock on the dude, but I did listen to him for a little while when he first started but he always sounded like he had to clear his throat and I couldn't listen to him anymore.

The Casefile series is very, very good.

The Belanglo episodes are riveting to me. It helps that the case was solved.
