In the article by Kiran, it says that the tote was on a forklift and slipped off the forks. He could have been next to it and just in an unlucky spot.

Any word if it was a contractor or a Nutrien employee? I worked there when it was PCS Nitrogen and there were quite a few accidents and injuries on the regular.

Or a telehandler lifting the load. Seems more likely, and easily confused as a "forklift".

My brother just called me about it and said it’s his son best friend who lost his dad. I know the kid personally and feel for him.

Dude works at a nitrogen plant, goes unresponsive and dies. Whatever, whatever could have happened? (Hint, a dude was just executed with nitrogen this week.)

YOU HAVE ABSOLUTELY NO CLUE HOW FAR OFF YOU ARE ON THIS STUPID COMMENT.

Plants like Nutrien produce N which is part of the NPK of fertilizer.

Nitrogen / Phosphate / Potassium

Damn, don't post stupid shite you don't know shite about.

It’s not a nitrogen plant. It’s a plant that uses nitrogen. Big difference.

You obviously don’t know shite from shinola. I’ve worked in that entire complex of chemical plants plus the dock, and I’ve seen things punk assess like yourself can’t even comprehend.

Damn!

My stepdad is a VP Nutrien. He’s currently overseeing an upgrade at their Borger, TX plant. He’s there Monday through Thursday and usually flies back in on Fridays or Thursdays depending on schedule. I’m sure this will be a big topic of discussion I see him this weekend.

It is with deepest sadness that we share news of a tragic incident that occurred yesterday at our Geismar, Louisiana Nitrogen site which claimed the life of one of our team members, Mathew Roberts, an Operating Technician with Nutrien for 14 years. Mathew was a father, a fiancé, a son, and a cherished colleague who will be greatly missed.

On behalf of Nutrien, we express our heartfelt condolences to Mathew’s family, friends and co-workers during this extremely difficult time. We are committed to providing support to his family and assistance for on-site personnel.

We know that our colleagues across Nutrien deeply believe in what we value most: everyone going home safe, every day. Times like this challenge us to our core and remind us that we have more work to do on our safety journey. We are investigating the cause of the incident and co-operating with the authorities so we can learn from this and work to prevent future incidents.

For those seeking support during this challenging time, please reach out to your manager, HR representative or our employee assistance program in your region.

Thanks for the physics lesson. Your scenario is not what happened.
