There is a relatively recently discovered culture/civilization in Peru that is even older than the group that built this temple. It's the Norte Chico civilization (aka Caral), the oldest civilization in the Americas. They date to about 5,000 years ago and were roughly contemporaneous with ancient civilizations in Mesopotamia, China, the Indus Valley, and Egypt

Anyway, for you history/archeology buffs

quote:

Archaeologists in Peru have discovered the ruins of an ancient religious complex that is 3,500 years older than the famous Incan citadel of Machu Picchu. It has also become known that there were other settlements in Peru before the Incas, according to Sci.News.

According to the research team from the Ucupe Cultural Landscape Archaeological Project, the recently discovered temple and theater are approximately three and a half thousand years older than Machu Picchu. The found structures were built long before the Incas and their predecessors appeared.

"It was amazing. This discovery tells us about the early origins of religion in Peru. We still know very little about how and under which circumstances complex belief systems emerged in the Andes, and now we have evidence about some of the earliest religious spaces that people were creating in this part of the world," said Dr. Muro Ynoñán, project leader and an archaeologist at the Field Museum.

They "discover" this type of shite every year. I'm convinced they just carve it out themselves so the funding doesn't dry up.

It's likely older than that. Professional archaeologists have rules about how old they can date things, even when the evidence clearly shows these kinds of finds can be much older.

There were beings here before humans. Probably numerous beings at different times.

Machu Picchu is more famous for its location, rather than its age. There are remnants pre-Incan civilizations throughout Peru. The Incans weren’t especially notable until they began to consolidate power, and reached their zenith shortly before the Spanish conquests.

True. Also China exaggerates its age.

It's almost as if there is an entire industry and science behind finding shite buried in the ground.

only 5,000 years old - That's it ?

And to imagine that the LSU mounds are more than twice as old (11,000 years old)

Yeah but one is an actual temple. Another is a pile of dirt that the grounds crew mows over once a week.

If you guys like this stuff, check out Ancient Apocalypse on Netflix.

I’m not saying history is wrong, I’m just saying it is wrong not to question what we think we know.
