Where earth is perhaps the outlier is that the spark took and quickly grew strong enough that nature couldn’t snuff out the flame.

Eventually, though, it will.

A time will come when there is no longer any form of life existing on Earth. It may be another billion years from now, but it will happen.

But I agree with you. The creation and extinction of life on other planets could have happened billions of times, but we just do not know.

How can they determine what molecules are on a planet 120 light years away?

It's called spectroscopy and is similar to how GC-MS works in a chemistry lab. Electrons in an element absorb photons in a certain way and reveal the fingerprint of that element or compound. The telescope can see it.

James Webb isn't powerful enough to see planets the size of earth, so they are looking at planets in the "super Earth" (or larger) range. If we could look at planets the size of earth, no telling what would be found.

Do you think the person who asked that question can come anywhere close to understanding your explanation?

So even if we *did* somehow invent speed of light travel, you’re still looking at implausibly long travel times

Unless we figure out a way to "fold" space, which some people think is theoretically possible.

Almost all forms of life fart. The only one that doesn’t is attractive women.

You’ve never had a girlfriend cropdust you and then you both laughed about it? You’re missing out on some of the simple pleasures of life.

based on our observations of similar yellow dwarf stars, we have a pretty good estimation of when it will happen…5-6 billion years from now. Stars explode all the time, if they didn’t neither you or I or anyone else would be here now
