One of the more impressive tornadic supercells we've seen in a while is ongoing in SW Iowa

Ever since I watched a Tornado cross in front of my vehicle on I-12 in Slidell last spring, I’m slightly more interested and terrified in these things.

I legit watched it cross the road and take out power lines, all while having a 8mth pregnant wife in the passenger seat crying and praying, no lie. Was butt puckering

I went right by this bastard in Nebraska today - kicked up a huge duststorm from the cornfields and onto i-80 between York and Lincoln. I came over the top of a small hill and saw this in front of me:

Visibility dropped to about 1/10th of a mile, several big wrecks. 60ish mph wind gusts.

The hail spikes were crazy with it for a bit. It had two spikes at once on one of the scans. It is most likely all hail that is getting wrapped into the tornado that caused the spikes, but could be debris.

Ever since moving to the Midwest, I’m convinced the sky/clouds are lower to the ground here than in the South. Freaks me out when a storm rolls through. It feels like it’s right on top of you.

Fair
The storm clouds just feel different. Where in the south I recall them being very tall and voluminous, here it feels like a blanket a few feet above you head.

That was SW, not SE.

We had pretty damn good weather in Iowa City yesterday and last night. One pretty nice shower late morning was it.
