So instead of them lifting weights to build muscle and get stronger, they should only be doing agility training to be skinny?

I'd rather look the way I do, and be able to lift the weight I can lift, than be skinny, and not be able to lift 200lbs.

I have blood labs ran regularly, check my blood pressure daily, and I am perfectly healthy. You don't have to be skinny with chicken legs and a bird chest to be "healthy".

That's okay though, stick to the pink and yellow weights, and the elliptical. I'm sure that's going well for your "health and wellness" goals.

No one has said people should shun weightlifting and only do whatever "agility training" is.

What folks have said in the previous pages is Americans have been conditioned to believe they aren't overweight when, in fact, they are.

Most Americans are overweight and think they're not. That's fat acceptance. Fat acceptance isn't Cosmopolitan declaring a 300 lb landwhale to be perfectly healthy.

Here you go again.

Do you want a pat on the back because you lift weights? Congratulations.

No one has said people shouldn't lift weights and be strong though.

No shite. I'm addressing the posters who targeted me specifically calling me fat based on my statistic.

quote:

Agility refers to the ability to start, stop, and change direction quickly while maintaining proper posture. Therefore, agility training is a type of exercise training that incorporates short bursts of movement that involve changes of direction. Agility training usually incorporates exercises such as cone drills and/or ladder drills in which the exerciser has to complete different movement patterns or foot patterns fast as possible. An example of a drill used to enhance agility is the L.E.F.T. (Lower Extremity Functional Test) drill. Here is how to do it: Place 2 cones 10 yards apart. Stand in an athletic position at one cone. First, sprint to the opposite cone and then back pedal to the starting cone. Next, turn and side shuffle to the opposite cone, and then side shuffle back to the starting cone. Then, carioca to the opposite cone, and carioca back to the starting cone. Last, turn and immediately sprint through the far cone.

If you don't know what agility training is, why are you even in this conversation?

I know you train hard and are pretty strong, but you're really dumb too.

Sit this one out.

I'm in this conversation because most Americans are overweight and think that's okay.

Maybe once or twice. Not for reps. 155lb boxers and soccer players are not lifting weights enough if at all to be able to put 225 on the bench and do 5 sets of 8.

They are more focused on agility and conditioning.

Because you're being overly pedantic and simultaneously obtuse. That's rarely a good combination.

Or it's possible you aren't smart enough to explain yourself.

You are absolutely right, i've been the skinny guy in my office when i need to drop 20 lbs but it doesn't have much do with the OP.

at 6'0 190 OP would be barely overweight by any measure and its not like he is bragging about being the picture of health. Just his goal.

His goal shouldn't to be barely overweight, especially when he's already made significant projress.

And "barely overweight" when you don't exercise at all still looks like shite.

he is 42, probably married and with kids. i doubt he gives a frick about his looks. His goal is to get to 190. Let him walk around in that and see how it fits.

that is just your own insecurity talking.

the point is that a 6'0 190 person isn't the fatty we need to focus on. Who he was a year ago is.
