Currently rolling in a ‘13 Tundra. 220,000 miles. Wait another year or get this? Always wanted a 3/4 ton diesel.

LINK

***update***.
Drove truck and was ready to buy. Offered the guy $50k cash (listed for $57k). Easiest sale he’d ever make. He chuckled and said that these are hard to keep on the lot. Could maybe use some juju and get $500 off. $56.5k

I said, ok. Well I have $50k in my checking account, but will move it back to my brokerage on Friday if I can’t find what I want for that price. Give me a call if you want to sale a truck. Also looking at F250s.

Will update when my phone rings.

**Update #2**
Like clockwork, the guy called. Said he pulled a lot of strings but could do $55k but not a penny less. I said, well, I understand but can’t do more than $50k but thanked him for his efforts. I reminded him again about Friday being firm still.

FWIW, I’ve decided anyway to go ahead and keep the Tundra another year. Going to bet he calls back before Friday tho with a better offer. Any takers?

I routinely pull a boat. Thinking about pulling a camper maybe 2-3 times a year.

It's made by Stellantis so very likely if you drive it 5 years you will get a new transmission

I really think the Ram 2500 with the gasser 6.4 is a far better truck for the money. It’s significantly less money and will have considerably less maintenance compared to that diesel. Be prepared for some seriously bad fuel economy.

Get the diesel if you’re pulling something massive. Otherwise, the gasser is probably better. Don’t forget you’re adding DEF as well as diesel fuel. That adds up fast.

Ram Cummins is a 450 k engine if maintained. The trans will last but you should maintain it also. Change fluid and both filters at 60 K if towing. Compare to Ford and you deal with fuel pump and fuel rail issues. Gm and Ram both dumped the pump but Ford likes billing their customers 12K when it fails.GM has best trans but Duramax has a few issues as well

Would pay cash. Only if they’d take $50k. Interest rates are too much on used.

Would only consider a pre-Covid model.

Ram is pending an updated release for Ram Heavy Duties. Rumors say it will have a ZF transmission to replace both the 68RFE and Aisin. There’s also rumors that Cummins is increasing their deplacement to better compete with Ford and GM.

All that said, you could get a better deal later on this generation and have a more proven drive train. I’m sure the first year release will have numerous teething issues like every brand deals with.

Good luck! I know the fever and it’s hard to wait.

It’s so weird that a brand new Ferrari 308 or 328 could be had for close to that.

I now drive my first Ram ever. I’ve owned several Fords and a few Chevy/Gmc over the years. Mine is a 2021 1500 Laramie. 140k miles and not a single issue. By far the best truck I’ve ever owned. There are a lot of Ram haters because its cool but the reality is they’ve never owned one

Don’t be afraid of buying that truck, you’ll love it
