Pat O's New Orleans - Dueling Piano Bar

We are coming in town from out of state and want to go to Pat O's on Friday night to the dueling piano bar. Does anyone know how hard is it to get a table for like 8? If we were there by 10:00 would we normally get one? Is there a cover, etc?

10pm I would think it would be next to impossible to get a table for 8. Might have a better chance getting two tables of 4

I go there every other Friday. Get there at 8 if possible.
Monitor drinking while you wait or you will be housed by the time you sit down at the table.
Take a pic.

Don't worry about getting a big table.. By the time you run the crime gauntlet only two or three of you will be left.

$50 handshake will get you a table. Done it many, many times.

Highly doubt you'll get a table @ 10. You'll have to be there much earlier than that.

They need to go back to their old hours.

9pm arrival would be better. Or $50 handshake.

Pat O’s Piano Bar is great to hear the same six songs over and over again.
Go down to Laffite’s Blacksmith Bar where they actually know dozens of songs on the piano.

Depending on the clowns sitting at the piano making the requests. Normally youre going to get a couple of tourists stumble in and think they're hot shite by requesting Piano Man or some shite

If you are lucky enough to catch Mike at the piano, do yourself a favor and request St. James Infirmary and Sweet Home Chicago. He's been playing there for almost 20 years now and those are some of his favorites to play.
This is him playing St James Infirmary...
DISCLAIMER.... thats not my video

You think the French Quarter settles down at 10 compared to 8 on a Friday night?

Be careful where you travel or you might run across our local citizens performing with dueling hi-points (pernts is the local pronunciation)

I think he understood that, was just saying that it would be more packed at 10pm than 8pm or any other time because nola doesn't slow down early.
Rereading his response tho, perhaps he didn't.

fwiw…Hitting the Main bar and dancing to 70 & 80s classics rock and disco with drunken tourist > sitting at the piano bar and clapping with grandma and grandpa!

That damn piano bar is at the center of numerous waking up on the floor moments for me. One including the 2003 national championship game. I wobbled my way through the dome that day, regretting that last huge drink before walking over to the dome.

You’ll have to split up but if you stand around tables open up. Or tip a server to help you…
