For all you "JAM" clowns:

Merriam-Webster: Jambalaya

Don't believe them? How about Hank?

Jambalaya (On the Bayou)- Hank Williams

I've never heard anyone from south Louisiana call it "JAM-ba-la-ya".

You can debate tomatoes or no tomatoes in jambalaya, but any pronunciation with "JAM" in it is just plain wrong.

Never in my life have I heard someone who was born and raised in south Louisiana say JAMbalya. I guess maybe some New Orleans people might say it like that idk. But they put tomatoes in their shite so maybe that’s is how you pronounce whatever it is they cook.

The others have covered the pronunciation pretty well, the only thing I’ll add is that the believed origin of the word is Jambon Yaya, which’s means pork or ham and rice. In French jam and bon make the same vowel sound.

Also, Hank Williams was close friends with DL Menard and wrote the song to the melody of a DL Menard song, so I doubt he would have butchered the pronunciation that bad, he butchers bayou to make it rhyme with the rest of the song, unfortunately this has caused the majority of non Cajuns to use that horrible mispronunciation

It rustles me that most of the people posting about gambling on the MSB keep spelling Caesars wrong.
