Those pre-shelled ones just take the fun out of it. I'm sure the machine that does it is very effective but from now on I'm only buying pistachios with the shell ON.

This is common knowledge. How long have you been eating them without shells?

I'm porr. This is the first pistachios I've bought in a few years. Last ones were the pre-shelled.

You'll be shocked to learn that water is wet.

Way back in the days of High School my best friend's 1st job was in a place named Carter's Nuts in Memphis. This was back when Carter was president, but no relation btw. The pistachio's were imported from Iran until the Shah was deposed and the hostages taken. Took the store a while to secure supply from California after that and the prices skyrocketed.
Before nuts went nuts after the political stuff, we would leave the study hall floor trashed with shells from bags of pistachios, almonds, and peanuts daily. The white salted pistachios from Iran were sooo good, almost like eating fattened up for slaughter sunflower seeds.

All us old-timers remember when they used to dye the shells red. Hell i thought that was the color of their shells for a long time
. The worst part was after you were done eating your hands were red. I agree the shelled ones are the best.

I occasionally buy pistachios, and my last trip to the store was actually the first time I noticed that they sold the peeled ones. I reached for the jar as I thought, "How convenient." But then I paused because something just didn't feel right about the whole situation. I usually pull the shells off 4 or 5 then pop them in my mouth. Having unfettered access to exorbitant amounts of ready-to-eat pistachios would have an anarchic feel to it. I went with the shells.

I have to disagree. I buy the shelled ones. Tips of my fingers get irritated shelling a lot of pistachios.
