According to the plea agreement, Danforth sought to hire a hitman to kill a man identified only as R.H., who was described as the father of one of her children. When she discussed the plan with an acquaintance, that person gave her a phone number that belonged to an undercover police officer.

Danforth met with the officer in October and arranged to pay him $5,000 to kill R.H. According to the plea agreement, "she had specific requirements that the hitman was to accomplish" — R.H.'s body had to be easily discoverable, and she "did not care if others who lived in the home were harmed" as long as it wasn't her child.
