6 more weeks of winter, folks. If you believe that stuff.

JACKSON, Georgia — Georgia's own -- some might say more accurate -- meteorological groundhog has made his call for Groundhog Day, and it may not quite be what everyone was hoping.
It's six more weeks of winter, according to General Beauregard Lee ("Beau" for short).
According to NOAA tracking, Beau is actually much more accurate than his famed northern counterpart Punxsutawney Phil. Beau's accuracy sits at 80%.
On Sunday morning, Beau emerged at the Dauset Trails Nature Center in Jackson and saw his shadow, foretelling six more weeks of winter. Last year, Beau declared an early spring.
"Don't kill the messenger!" Beau's handlers joked Sunday.
The folks at Dauset Trails read a proclamation from Beau that said in part:
"I love pool parties and swimming and getting a tan, but I also love ice fishing, hot chocolate and making a snowman. We've had snow from here to the beach, it's been an interesting winter for this Georgia peach... I know you're ready for warmth and cheer, but you've got to hang on just a little longer my dear. I'm not joking, or kidding, or making a bluff -- six more weeks of the wintry stuff. This prediction I make with my little paw -- six more weeks of winter, for my shadow I saw."

The world's most famous groundhog has a chilly message: the legendary weather predictor Punxsutawney Phil saw his shadow, signaling six more weeks of winter
It’s Groundhog Day, and all eyes are on Punxsutawney Phil, who lives in Gobbler’s Knob in Pennsylvania. Once a year, the famous groundhog predicts, with limited success, if the U.S. will have an early spring or six more weeks of winter based on whether or not he sees his shadow, according to the Punxsutawney Groundhog Club.

How do they know if he sees his shadow or not?
And is it always on the 2nd? What if he didn’t come out till tomorrow?

We have groundhogs on our property, and I have a trail cam on a hole because it’s interesting to see who all lives in and visits the hole.
I can say that our Prognosticator Petey hasn’t stuck his head out at all.

I'm waiting to see if big Al, a gator at Gator country in Beaumont, eats his steak today. He's been right the last 20 years.

They decide ahead of time. They make it out like he comes out of his hole on his own and then retreats back inside if he sees his shadow, but in reality they just drag him out, hold him up in the air and declare their opinion.

Anyone find out if Pierre C. Shadeaux, the Nutria Rat of New Iberia, saw his shadeaux ?
