Ram 3500 vs GMC 3500 vs Ford F350

Ok OT, I need your advise. My old F250 may have just given up the ghost (determining status today). As a result I may bite the bullet and buy new. I am not a high OT baller so I have to look at the entry level 4wd drw, though I certainly have Champaign taste. The truck will be a work / farm truck for me not a baw status truck.
With that said, I think all three make a sharp looking truck. Ram has IMHO the best diesel but worst tranny, GM has a decent diesel with the best tranny, Ford possibly has the better combination. I am having trouble deciding what direction to go,
So all Ram and GM 3500 and Ford F350 owners what are your thoughts on what you drive and would you recommend your truck. Also, what have been your main repairs?
Thanks in advance. I pray that all that are affected by IDA will have a swift and full recovery (we still have power lines down in my front yard)

GMC or Ram. Depending on availability.

Each have their issues. Our fleet at work has a couple thousand of each. They all have emissions equipment problems. Pick the one that drives the best for you and has the best styling. My reliability data says they're all within a slim margin of each other.

This. It's not 2002 anymore where there were distinct differences in quality/reliability between the 3. All are excellent trucks now.

RAM was rumored to be getting itstransmissions built by ZF out of Germany.
Significant upgrade. Not sure if they are using it yet in the 3500. Worth finding out when you go to the dealer.

The 8-speed box is rated for vehicles up to 57,000 lbs, and can handle up to 1,000 lb.-ft. of engine torque. It will also bring a number of upgrades over the previous 6-speed as well, including the ability to send 500 lb.-ft. of engine torque to a dual-side PTO system.
Other features of the new ZF 8-speed automatic include adaptive shift mapping, optimized shift comfort, and what ZF describes as automatic powershifting for a 30 percent higher acceleration rate. Thanks to the new dual damper lock-up converter and transmission-mounted oil cooler, the transmission offers notable weight savings over the outgoing unit while offering a 10% increase in fuel efficiency.

Don’t buy the base model Rams if you’re looking for a work truck they’re pieces of shite
I would get a GMC or Ford

The GM Duramax/Allison combo has been consistently more reliable than the Ford products since they stopped making the 7.3L diesel. I do think the Cummins diesel is the best engine of the group though, but I'm less confident in the overall durability of the rest of the Ram truck although I think they've arguably surpassed Ford.
As others have said, all diesels in the US are under strict environmental standards and they are all going to be more costly to maintain than their gas counterparts. I know of far more horror stories with Ford diesels than the others though. To the point where I would probably just stick with gasoline engines if I had to have a Ford product.
My styling preference is the High Country Chevrolet models and the GMC models. I don't like the lower end Chevrolet styling very much.
The Ram also looks good. The higher end models have a nicer interior than the higher end GMC. Their mid grade models are pretty comparable though.
Kind of wish Toyota made a heavier pickup truck for the US market.

I would consider a gas F250 - 2500 IMO. Have your needs changed to justify the upgrade?

My 6.2 has been great. Would buy the 7.3 gasser next.

Specs on your current f250?

Up until the rainbow truck I would have said F-350 now I'm not so sure.
I think they still build the better overall truck (engine, tranny, interior) on total, but I hate recommending them.
Best engine - Cummings (Ram)
Best Interior - Chevy/GMC
Best Tranny - Chevy (Allison)
Ford isn't necessarily the best in any category but close enough second across the board to score the highest.

The 3500 RAM’s come with an Aisin transmission now don’t they?

Not in engine, unless you are talking about the 7.3L gasser. I do like that one.
Their diesels are maintenance and reliability nightmares.

Buy the Dodge. Then the GMC.
If only Ford is available, buy the Tundra.

I just recently traded a 2019 F-250 diesel in and bought a GMC 3500 SRW AT4 with the duramax/allison combo. After driving all three I preferred the GMC and Ram. That’s only my personal opinion though. Ram has the best interior but also has the most gadgets to go wrong, but probably has the best ride. Steering and handling hands down for me went to the GMC. Transmission wise I preferred the 10-speed in the GMC. The F-250 I had had a horrible shake after hitting a bump and would sometimes almost throw you across the road due to a horrible jerk in the front end. The Ford did have the most power/acceleration but also the worst ride.
On a side note, when comparing the ride the F-250 and the GMC both had/have 12 ply, load range F tires where the Ram had stock tires. The Ram may not ride as good as the GMC with the same tires.
