Like other have said, this is standard operating procedure. The insurance co just wants to know what they are insuring and they're checking for obvious issues like trampolines, general roof condition, vicious dogs, etc. Often times, these are drive-by inspections as the carrier doesn't want to pay for more than they have to. The guys performing these reports make a minimal amount and try to be in and out. With that said, I'd clean up all the drug paraphernalia, keep my pit bull inside, postpone the cock fights and move my trampoline to the neighbor's house for the time period they gave.

I don't blame insurance co's wanting to see what they are covering. I sure wouldn't want to be responsible for a structure sight unseen.

Wouldn't blame them for this, but in my case it's all nickel & diming us. Said we had a gable roof when it's clearly hip. We tried to show Google earth pics but they just ignored us on our appeal.

In LA we just don't seem to have recourse for the limited insurance options. Sucks.

Yeah…I am going to ask my agent if they have already inspected my home. I guess I’ll also include all the other items that might raise my premium. Great call. :/

One time my insurance sent a picture out of the blue of a couple vines growing up the side of my house and said to remove them and send a pic back. I don't know why they didn't just pull them down while they were there.
