What says the OT? Should we look for a place near King St or stay on one of the nearby islands? Group of 6-8 southern baws from 26-30 years old

I'd stay downtown just for the ease of walking/eating/barhopping. You wouldn't have to worry about getting a cab to/from Kiawha/Seabrook to take you to downtown Charleston (which is more of a trek than you'd realize). I wouldn't dare attempt to drink and drive to and from either.
What are yall looking to do?

Stay downtown because getting to and from the islands to go out is a pain. Word of warning- staying Downtown can be very expensive

It looks like we can get pretty good deals with VRBO in the downtown area

That's what I would suggest.
Bars: The Rarebit, Tattooed Moose, Closed for Business, Pour House, Gin Joint, The Belmont, Proof
Restaurants: The Ordinary (great seafood and oysters), Butcher and Bee (sandwiches/lunch), Husk (upscale Southern), Fig, Hominy Grill, Cru, Jestine's Kitchen.
Plenty of good golf around here as well.

Spring would be ideal because it's really nice and isn't too hot. Lots of people are out and around. Summer would be fine as well, just a little hotter.

Any better time to come? We are looking sometime this summer
Come in the spring or fall...
Too hot in the summer and the bars won't be full of CofC chicks. You definitely want to come when school is in session.

They're all dumb, I'm married to one of them

It's a numbers game. 11,000 students and almost 8,000 are girls. I'd try for the week before the College's graduation week... Sorostitutes will be out in full force.

FIFY
Don't do that

Personally I'd just Airbnb it and rent a house for a few days downtown near King.

You're in Nashville and you want to go Charleston for a Bachelor Party? That's like a step down imo. I think you'll be a little letdown to be honest with you. Nashville is so close to Chicago. You all should come up this way during the Summer time. Catch a Cubs game...great nightlife and bars.
If you're dead set on a southern type town, I'd go to Savannah over Charleston. I found Savannah to be much more fun and relaxed than Charleston.

Gotya. Still no Savannah? It's just more fun in my opinion and more "geared" towards a bachelor party experience. Personally, I've always found Charleston to be a little .... slow?

I've been to both quite a good bit (Savannah and Charleston). Savannah is just more fun in my opinion. It has better nightlife. Charleston has better restaurants. Savannah has better drinking. Charleston is a better place for a family vacation. Savannah is a better place for a bachelor party.
Personally, I find Savannah to be prettier as a whole. It's a little more gritty in parts, but it has more greenery than Charleston. Much like New Orleans, you can walk around enjoying an adult beverage. Savannah does have good golf and you're also 30 miles from Hilton Head beach.
ETA: I'm not sure if it passed, but I was in Charleston late last summer and they had a proposal going around to close down the downtown bars at midnight. Talk about
Imagine that...you finish dinner at say 10:00. That leaves you two hours of drinking/bar hopping (last call probably at 11:45).
