The YoYo craze swept my small North Louisiana 8th grade class by storm. Must have started around 1999 and ended on/around 2001.

Some of those cats could ball, man. I was only able to make it 'sleep' and walk the dog, but there were several who mastered the YoYo arts in even that short amount of time.

Pretty sure I had this one.

1999 FORTUNE Article gives insight into the economic side of the craze

What kind of YoYo did you baws have?

The rest of the country experienced that in the 70's. Maybe it took a while to reach small town north Louisiana.

Everyone on the recess yard would tremble when I'd bust out my Butterfly. All the girls wanted my AIM screen name when I'd Walk The Dog in everyone's face.

1999 I was 8 and yeah, it was a big deal for us 90s kids is LA. I never got good. Skateboarding took over my life soon after. I still skate though; haven't had a yoyo in 15 years. Still got my element board with spitfire wheels and bone-reds. And venture trucks ftw.

I played with yoyos and marbles in the 70's. But tops where my thing. It was sooooo satisfying to split someone's top.

When was the pog fad? I remember you dumbfrick kids playing that. I was off to college by fall 98, wasn't around to see any yo yos.

Think I was in 5th grade or so when yoyo's were big. Had a Yomega Fireball, Yomega X Brain, and a Duncan Butterfly. Could hardly use a single one of them, and then school banned them at recess...so that fad died quick.

Pfft yo-yos were child's play.

Pogs were no motherfricking game.

Yo Yo fad hit when I was in 3rd grade and the Pog fad was my younger brothers fad when he was in the third grade.
Slap bracelets just came to mind also. That was probably 94-95ish

I still have several Duncan Tops and Yo Yo's from the 70's. I can yo yo but can't spin a top anymore. My kids think it's amazing when I just let the yo yo go to sleep.

Slap bracelets were big at Mandeville Middle in the very late 80s.
