So, do I
A. Buy a 4 prong to 3 prong dryer adapter cord?
B. Replace the 3 prong wall outlet with a 4 prong?
I haven’t looked into the box yet. Thx.

Buy the different cord and put it on the dryer. It's super easy.

Even if you aren't the handyman type that's a 5 minute job to change the cord and you don't have to frick with a 220V outlet.
They are like $10 at Lowe's or HD

Use the 3 prong cord on the new dryer.

You don’t have to splice anything. They make different cords.

Rob the cord from your old dryer, profit

Take the old plug in off and put on new dryer. Follow wiring diagram on dryer IOM (installation operation maintenance) manual

Buy a 3 prong cord and swap them.

New dryer came with a whip, interesting. Pull the receptacle and see how many wires are in the box. If 4, go get a 4 wire dryer receptacle, if 3, rob the old whip from your dryer and install.
ETA- if it came with a whip, then they removed the jump between neutral and ground at the factory, is it new?

As said switch the cord to a 3 prong using the dryers wiring diagram.
You could do this but you would have to pull a nuetral wire from the breaker box. Three prong outlets only have two hots and a ground coming into them.
ETA I scrwed uo in my initial post and made a mistake I have seen many times and shoulcn't have made. The 4th wire is the neutral not the ground.

Look at Mr. Electricity calling a cord a “whip”. Is that industry slang?
