Returning A Different Item to Amazon?

Bought a cellphone last week on Amazon. Another online retailer had the phone for about $60 less with free gifts like headphones/extra charger/selfie stick etc. I went ahead and bought that phone with the intention of returning the phone from Amazon.
Anyway, I have the phone from Amazon all set up the way I want and I'm wondering if I could just return the new phone I just got that's unopened. Same exact phone. The IMEI is different of course, but I don't know if Amazon keeps track of that #?
any ideas? Just trying to save hassle of setting up the new phone, plus Amazon gets a new, unopened device.

You sound trashy. Just keep both phones and make one your drug dealing phone

People do this kind of shite intentionally all the time. Example, they'll buy an expensive gps/golf watch and then return a random shite watch in the package. Amazon charges it back to the seller so it's a pretty loose process unfortunately (for the seller/supplier).

Personally, I wouldn't do it. Who knows if those product numbers are tied to some sort of warranty program. I'm also not lazy.

I bought head light bulbs and one didn't work. I requested a return label and only sent 1 light back. I got a full refund and they sent me another set of lights that worked. It seems that they don't check what you return to them, at least not in my situation.

I'm not trying to scam anybody. I also figured Amazon would be getting back a new, unopened device instead of the phone I've been using for a week, but I guess I'll just return the original device bought from Amazon to Amazon.

Sorry I wasn't insinuating you were trying to scam, although maybe it sounded like that. Cell phones are tricky with the lock/unlock shite so Id return the original one to Amazon I think.

Those serial numbers are printed on the box. At the very least it costs someone else money to get that RMAd to the manufacturer. I would just backup my phone and set the new one up.

I don't know. You agreed to the original purchase price with Amazon. Returning it will cost somebody something. That cost gets passed down to others.
I am old school. You shook hands on a deal, you should have stuck by that deal.

Amazon screws the seller over whenever possible. Speaking from experience. My advice before selling anything on there is being willing/able to part with it and also have to pay for the item yourself.
I sold something on there, guy got it and claimed it was "broken"...they wouldn't send me the item back, then charged my account for the full purchase price of the item.
Guy got to keep the item, and got a full refund.

Dude, since when do you have a cell phone?
I buy 'em all the time now, you know?
You prepay for it, and then you buy it and you throw it away. There's a name for it.
A burner?
A burner!
That's a burner.
Dude, this is what drug dealers buy.
Oh, really?
This is a very specific sect of lower class, okay? This is like, this is, like, felon class.
Felon class, huh?

Amazon was the seller, not a 3rd party, not even a fulfilled by Amazon deal. Amazon sold it directly.
I'd keep it if Amazon would have price matched too, but that's against Amazon's policy. I'd also have kept it if we were just talking $20 or less, but with the free gifts + no tax at the other place, we're talking close to a $100 difference.
Amazon has "found cheaper elsewhere" as one of their return reasons, so I assume their ok with it.

How about return unused phone to place you actually got it?

I wouldn't do it. If they check serial/IMEI numbers, it could become a headache for you.

This is what you were most excited about isn't it?

This^ they each have a unique digital serial number as well.

not worth the hassle. You'll have to worry until you get confirmation.
