Honestly... Have you met todays kids?
I am sure his thought pattern is. The money was rightfully mine anyway, even if I did kill him

In California they have a law...
"Yes, California has a strict law called the Slayer Statute (outlined in California Probate Code Section 250) which legally prevents anyone who "intentionally and feloniously" kills another person from inheriting their assets. The Slayer Statute applies directly to parent-child relationships and trust funds, and functions in the following ways:"
Unfortunately, he's not convicted of killing his parents yet (even though we know he will be). So he can operate on the premise that he is still "innocent". My guess is legally he'll end up getting access and when he's convicted, the estate will sue for the trust money back.

I wondered about that, makes sense!

I would like to be surprised that the law isn't written to include murder charges to prevent what the young man is doing, but we all know legislators don't usually think that kind of shite through.

Brings up an interesting legal aspect. That money was in fact earmarked for him. Is there any verbiage in the trust documents that excludes you if you kill your parents? The same parents who earmarked the money for you?
Doubtful. My trust doesn't have any of that verbiage personally that I can recall. Esquires, what is your take?
Cases like these are times when you call up one of Structured Settlement Companies and the lawyers take something like 60% so you can collect your settlement or trust all upfront. They handle everything and even venue shop to find a judge that will rule in their favor.

Solid analysis and good find.
@rltiger
Even more of a reason why they need to make a ruling on it. Being charged is way different than being convicted (which he will be of course).

Also known as the Menendez brothers law?

Get the money. Set up accounts in Panama, Switzerland, etc. Hire someone with a boat to get you down to Central America. Fly to a country with weak extradition treaty. Profit.

I googled that as well to see if they were the same... they are two different things.

this reminds me to put in the bylaws that anyone who kills me is no longer a trustee!
Or a beneficiary.

I'm sure he's had conversations with his attorneys.

This is the issue I see, given our justice system he legally hasn't killed his parents yet because he hasn't been convicted. So make sure you add something about being actively investagated for your murder.

So I don't know much about this case, but is it going to be pretty open and shut that he did it?

Stop being mean to him. He is a orphan.

Defense lawyer looking to get rich

There was an old Jewish proverb that said a "shmuk" is someone who murders their parents and then begs for sympathy because they are an orphan.
He appears to be proving it true.

Screw it, give it to him to pay lawyers. At least it gets that money away from that shite stained family trust. I hope they go broke defending that piece of shite.
