Bert and Ernie are finally out ... a "Sesame Street" writer is confirming the iconic characters are a gay couple.

Bert and Ernie have been on the show since it started in 1969, and there's always been speculation about the true nature of their relationship. Mark Saltzman, who joined the "Sesame Street" crew in 1984, cleared it all up by telling Queerty he wrote Bert and Ernie as a gay couple.

He says the 'Sesame' duo is a reflection of his own same-sex relationship and not about pushing an agenda.

Who gives a shite? Society is moving forward. You might as well get used to it, or you'll get left behind.

You’re right. We shouldn’t care hat a children’s show is forcing toddlers and kindergarten aged students to confront the complicated and confusing topic of sexuality. We should just shut up and take it right?

If this gets you upset in anyway, you haven't been paying attention.

And just hold onto your asses when the true stories of How Big Bird got his name and what exactly happened to make Oscar so damn grouchy.

...then you explain to your kid that "grown ups can love whoever they like, just like I married your Mommy." It's not that difficult to explain.

Well one of them did at least...my bet is on Ernie being the catcher and Bert the pitcher

Oscar is also an evil bigot. Probably a white supremacist.

Ah, yes. A male/male sexual relationship is difficult to explain but a male/female relationship is easy and nothing to worry about? That doesn't make any sense, man. If one person cares and loves another person, what problem is there?
