Should a married woman consult with her husband before cutting her hair off?

Woman at my job showed up today with a new short cut. Drastic change in appearance to say the least.

Someone asked if her husband was ok with it, then she stated that he was cool with it, but didn't know about it until after she cut it all off.

Another female said: "You didn't tell him about it?"

Her response was: "Why do I need his permission? It's my hair."

Should the wife be obligated to discuss this with her life partner first?

Depends on what kind of marriage they have.

Obligated is a strong word, but she should definitely get his opinion on the matter.

Not obligated but she should want to on her own

Not "obligated", but kind of puts a dent in the trust factor of the marriage. My wife has been wanting to cut her hair shorter forever (ex air force), and I would never tell her she couldn't, but she still asks if I would be fine with it before doing it.

I'd be pissed because I like her long hair so I would have liked a heads up but it certainly is her peregotive.

Plus it makes BJs easier for her.

No.

However...if I'm drastically changing my hair I'm gonna bounce the idea off my husband to get his reaction to it first.

I wouldn't care. Hair grows back.

I don't think I have to worry about this though because my wife is the type that would need some affirmation before doing something like changing her hairstyle.

new short cut

This is the equivalent of a woman saying, "I've given up on trying to look attractive."

I think it's polite to talk to him about it. Yes, it's my body my choice blah blah blah, but I want to be attractive to my partner. Likewise, I'd rather he talk to me before he gets a tattoo or grows a mustache or whatever.

Yes because if he bic'd his head and went Telly Savalas, she'd be pissed if not consulted before he did it.

Having a discussion is different than asking for permission. I've been married a long time and my wife has cut her hair fairly short a few times. We had a discussion about it and I told her I wouldn't be happy about it. She did it anyway. That's how marriage works. Asking for permission is for the kids not the spouse.

I'd probably be a little upset. In my opinion, very few women can pull off short hair and still be attractive.

this. I've always loved women with long hair and found short hair kind of a turn off. A girl i was dating in college knew that and got her haircut super short, then got mad at me when I didn't like. This was kinda my attitude toward it....It's your hair do what you want but I like what I look...and that looks bad. I wasn't that much of a dick...just honestly said I liked it better the other way and it caused shite.

It's amazing to me how often people struggle with that concept
