Should I pay a traffic ticket from the NOLA Photo Safety Program?

I heard the traffic violations are issued through a third party private company and the violations do not go through the NOLA judicial system.
Should I pay this fine? If I don't pay are there any consequences?

I had two about 10 years ago. Never paid them. They sent me letters saying they could report to collections. They never did. They don't get reported to the DMV.

They put you on the boot list

You might get booted.
They might try to ding your credit.

They never did to me. I got parking tickets after with the same vehicle. I paid those. Never paid the camera ticket.

Yup. I remember when I lived there I can home to my neighborhood having a bunch of cars booted. All presumably due to camera tickets

shite. I guess I'll pay it then. Not worth the risk.

You don't have to pay. But they will boot your car when they find you. Just don't park on the streets

Heck no dont pay that!! They are through a third party that has no ability to collect other than a few threatening sounding letters. They issue several hundred thousand each year and the collection rate is well under 10%. They dont have the resources to actually follow up on each ticket.
The only bad thing is I've heard if you are parked on a public curb and an officer happens to run your plate, they can boot your car. But between me and several co-workers none of us have ever had any problems.

I park on the streets a lot. I'll just pay it. Getting booted would be a major pain in the arse.

Personally wouldn't pay it depending on the time and location... wouldn't rick getting mugged/jacked and waiting hours for NOPD to respond. May be more difficult if it's a speeding ticket.

They have a device that scans license plates to see if they need to be booted.

with today's access to information, I think it would be far too easy for that to come back to haunt you years from now....I'd chalk it up to lessons learned and pay it so I could forget about it.

then take off your license plate when you park.

They WILL boot your car if they spot it in NOLA.

I'm a mild mannered law-abiding citizen, but this kind of money grubbing shite makes my blood boil. I see why some folks come unhinged and do bad shite to the government.

FYI, they ride around in vans with a camera running a computer program. a person doesn't go around looking for plates! LOL. If you are in the system and the van passes your car, the boot will happen in 2 minutes !

I have gotten camera tickets all over and never pay them EXCEPT in New Orleans. In most cities it is set up as a civil deal that isn't enforced by the municipality. Not so in the city of New Orleans. They have their own Traffic Enforcement and they will, as noted, boot your car. The charge to get the boot off is steep not to mention the hours waiting on them to come do it. Pay NOLA but don't pay others.

Back up close to the person behind you and they can't read your plate. I've been doing it for years
