Single guys making $150-200k a year by yellowfin
I had this conversation a while back. I'd be a true baller with no wife or kids
If I didn't have my family I'd probably be dead with that much disposable income.

100k goes a long ways depending on where you live.

I'm in the 35-40 range. shite sucks. Me, my bro and his wife could house and feed a family of 20 on the taxes we pay. It's disgusting.
Makes me want to puke when I do my taxes.

What do you mean "could"?

I like how Kentucky has a lower cost of living but my paycheck in Texas or just a couple hours south in Tennessee would be $8,000 more per year just because I wouldn't pay state income tax or local tax. $8000 is a lot of money that translates to an extra $675 a month or extra $300 per paycheck.
I know they say they will get you in other ways like property taxes but would I really be paying an extra $675 in property taxes if I lived in Texas or Tennessee? No way.

Other than food
I'd be worse than a Jew if I were single making 6 figures

I sometimes fantasize about what I would be able to do with my salary if I was single. It's just a fantasy though, I wouldn't trade my family for anything.
No doubt. I'd probably also be a huge degenerate anyway, so I think I'm alright.
But man, I can think of $5k in monthly expenses without thinking more than 3 seconds thar would disappear.

First thing I'd buy is a plane and get my pilots license

I don't know any guy making that much that's single.
Women are really good at projecting value. Those guys typically don't make it out of medical school/business school without a fiancee or serious girlfriend.

i had a banner year last year close to that range. i put most of the excess towards student loans and got my savings to 8-9 months of cushion
i am trying to have all of my student loans paid off by the end of next year, and then i focus on retirement investing and investing for economic output (Rent houses or businesses or whatever)
about $17k of student loans remaining are "high" interest (likely above what i'd get with investing) and i may just pay those off and take the excess i'd pay and start the retirement-investment stuff

Single. No debt other than mortgage. Making close to 6 figures.
I have no complaints, but it's not as great as you would think. Then again I bank a good chunk of my paycheck to retirement so I can't blow it all.

This came up as I was watching the snaps of a buddy of mine that has been with the same engineering firm for 10 years in San Diego. Dude is partying all the time, travels constantly. I don't know what he makes, but considering tenure and location, I'm guessing he's at least in that range.

Are you putting any money in your retirement accounts when paying off your loans?
I am wrestling with whether or not I should. I can't right now because I am completely maxed out on what I am contributing toward loans because I have an arrangement with one lender where if I pay them $20k by the end of the year they will close the account, which is what I am doing. Stretching me paper thin but will be worth it as they will write off $40k of principle.
But more so should I do it once I have that one paid off and more wiggle room with my dollars. My rule of thumb is to put 25% of my take home pay toward loans

It's fun and exciting until your pool of single people starts to dry up and everyone has kids. Then you start blowing money on senseless shite and make yourself miserable while working on your next adventure/niche in life.

I know a couple of guys that make far more than that and it seems like money hungry women is the worst part of the situation.
Also their taxes are ridiculous. They pay around the above amount to uncle Sam every year. Sucks

I didn't hit the $300k mark until I had 2 kids. GOD GIVES YOU WHAT YOU NEED WHEN YOU NEED IT.

Yup. This is the negative.
You run out of people to party with faster than you would think.
