Chris Berman, Ice-T. Earnest Hudson, etc. Who the frick takes out this insurance?
? Last time I got the call, told them i really needed it. My truck engine and transmission were leaking fluid badly. I could use some insurance to help replace them. Hung up on me.

About as dumb as home title insurance.

Service manager I deal with at Banner Chevy told me Car Shield is the biggest scam ever. Said they never cover shite on repairs...

Not that I'm saying they would pay for it anyway, but why wouldn't they hang up on you for telling them about a pre existing problem? You think an home insurer would say "yeah we'll cover your leaking, half missing shingle roof"?

That was the reason I told them that. Nothing wrong with my truck, and got the phone calls to stop. Lol

Working as a mechanic for a dealership I’m here to tell you car shield is the ABSOLUTE worst to get..
1 - no matter the issue if it’s over $400 (parts labor & taxes) they will send a inspector out which takes 3-4 days if your lucky
Also if it’s a internal engine failure they will send the inspector out before tear down, then again after they approve it, then they decide what route to fix it (expect 2 weeks minimal) to get your vehicle fixed
2 - if you have a failure say a lifter damaged and a camshaft lobe damage, THEY WILL TRY AND SCREW YOU AND THE DEALERSHIP OVER, they will try and approve ONLY the failed components such as the 1 lifter and camshaft and any gaskets or sealants they feel that can not be re-used, and will not follow the manufacture policy (I.E. for GM that would require all lifters/guides/camshaft/VOLM to all be replaced)
3 - 99% of the time a car shield policy has a “ cap” meaning if repairs cost $3800.00 and the cap is $2500.00 your now responsible for the $1300.00 plus the deductible (It’s very VERY rare that car shield pays the entire bill)
4 - Car shield WILL TRY and get dealerships to use used parts or components and will not tell the customer about it (as a policy for the GM dealership I work at the service manager requires the service writers to contact the customer when car shield try’s to pull this stunt)
This is just SOME of the “car shield scam” stuff, I could write a essay on there crap they try and pull
Dealing with them now on a V6 2014 Silverado, the customer has a “cap” on there policy the truck has 171,334 miles on it, lower end knocking top end lifter tapping. The truck needs a new engine Car shield is making the customer approve the tear down (10 hrs just to pull both heads and inspect the lifters) at that point they will then send another inspector out a day or 2 after that they will decide if the customer’s policy covers the failure if it does they will approve the repair or replace (99.9% of the time it’s repair) and they will only pay up until the customers “cap”
Get a LDS (Louisiana Dealer Services) extended warranty policy, they are legit and do things by the book
