Some bird photos from Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge

i took a road trip to Rockefeller Wildlife Refuge recently, and was able to get pictures of a decent variety of birds...i plan to go back in fall, winter and spring to get the widest range i can...

i added this to the "birds at your feeder" thread, but it doesn't really apply there...feel free to add bird, bug and other critter photos in this thread...

Neotropic cormorant





Various moulting great tailed grackles







Tricolored heron



Least bittern





Laughing gull



Clapper rail



Common gallinule



Yellow crowned night heron



Oops! How did that get there??

I’ve never thought much of cormorants or grackles, but those are some cool pictures of them, especially the Neotropic cormorant.

The old timers at the hunting camp when I was kid had a different name for these birds...

i used a 150-600mm lens with a 1.4x teleconverter on a crop sensor body...

thanks! the moulting kind of made me feel sorry for the grackles, but it also gives them a little more character, i think...
