No, you need to enter your TWIC credential identification number (CIN) in the known traveler number (KTN) field when you book your airline reservation. This will give you a TSA precheck marker on your boarding pass.

This is something Twic should fricking advertise.

Tell that to the TSA agent who looked at my TWIC and then asked for my DL instead last year. First time I've ever been the "Let me talk to your supervisor" guy.

I've been using my TWIC for the last couple years for the ID check at TSA, never had an issue. I'm sure the ones at MSY/HOU/IAH are probably well versed in TWIC though.

Good luck with find TSA employees who take it. I had to provide 2 forms of ID other than my drivers license for something recently and it listed TWIC as an option. My application was denied because they had never seen one.

probably the case, TSA is a little different at different airports, and that's partly by design, and partly because there are a lot of Paul Blarts as TSA agents out there

Where is this number exactly?

ETA- I figured it out. You enter the number on the back top right of your TWIC without the dashes. Just entered. We will see what the boarding pass looks like.

Yep. Works well in theory, but most TSA agents have never seen a TWIC card and will ask you for ID instead when you get to the gate unfortunately.

Which is fricking stupid because a TWIC uses a background check and is basically 10X the screening that a driver's license uses.

I have Pre-Check and if I book the flights for everyone and I have my KTN typed in my ticket, everyone in my party gets it. I imagine the same will happen if you type your TWIC number into the KTN box.

they've expanded that considerably, DFW has gone to a system, two actually, that acts as a pre=check using only your driver's license, it's probably data collected from some marketing software

All persons booked on the same reservation get the benefit of the TSA precheck. My wife piggy backed off mine for the longest time until she got her own when she started traveling for work.
