Does the lid lock have a kill switch for the washer? If not, just by pass it. Whatever you do, don't break it. Parts for repairs of a lot of appliances have a longer lead time than normal.

I just got quoted a 5 month wait for a fricking lawn mower.

It requires a separate load OR she has to plan ahead & gather all the dirty laundry before she starts the load. Once that lid locks and the water starts pouring, that load has to finish it's cycle.

The one we have just pauses when the lid is opened. You can add clothes whenever but it's not doing anything unless the lid is closed. Are you talking about a front load style?

Speaking of speed queen… we have a revolving issue with the start button not working. Unplug it for 5 or so seconds and it will start working again. Had the switch replaced under warranty and it happens less frequently but still happens from time to time. Anyone have a more permanent solution?

The one we have locks the lid instantly when you hit the start button and the lid can't be opened again unless you cancel the load & turn off the machine. It's been a complaint my wife has had because she used to start the load, walk around the house gathering up other laundry and dropping them in when the water ran in her old machine.

We have the same but I've found unless you are well into the cycle, the time is nominal. The washer is already pretty quick so if I catch it in time I don't mind starting it over.

Not sure of the model, but on the the one I have, the mechanism for the lid lock can be felt on the back side of the upper lid lip.
It is steel.
Place a heavy duty magnet on the outside of the lid in front of that "safety" latch and you're in business.
The wife, no pics, hated not being able to rinse out the soap cup while loading.

Edit: Not my model. Mine is older style, no LED screens.

Remember the Triumph TR7?
Pretty solid little sports car, IMO.
Probably didn't last though.

I fricking hate this same feature on my washer. For generations, people have started the washer and then add clothes. It can save 2-3 minutes on the total time it takes to wash a load.

Can't do that shite now. frick them manufacturers.

Found a Video of magnet bypass

Look for Lid Switch Assembly on pg 10. It is the same as my older model.
That bottom plate on the diagram sticks out on the back side of the machine just below the area with the controls.
Once you find it and toggle it, you can clip it closed or use a magnet to hold it towards the back. I used an old hard-drive magnet.

Edit: Added Video

Can you not pause a SQTR7 model..?

What's the deal with the lid locks anyway, some lawyer caused it..

Our GE model only locks the lid during the spin cycle, problem is, you have to wait for the spin to completely stop for it to unlock.

You got it. I've got the TC5. That flipper that comes out of the back is an easy work around. You can either put a clothes pin or some type of magnet the click the flipper from flipping when the lid is open. Takes a few seconds to remedy.

Why does your dishwasher want access to the clothes washer while it's running? Tell your dishwasher to focus on the pots and pans first, and maybe take some OvenOff to the oven for a change.
