Just released today. I know each survivor has their own story and looking for a money grab but did anybody watch this?

I thought the beginning and middle were cool, the plane crash segment wasn't too great, I think.

Trailer

Where was it released?
Two nights. Two Lynyrd Skynyrd threads. I wonder if we will get a third tomorrow?

I hope the movie is better than the poster. Cause that is bad.

Not gonna lie, the trailer looks like one of those made for TV docs that has some interview and some acting just to project images to the narration.

The only other argument would be for the ABB. For Southern Rock, that is.

They werent the greatest musicians, but in an era of Urban Contemporary, disco, and glam rock, they were a band singing to southern kids about things they could relate to.

Certainly they were the most popular. Quite a few bands/individuals were as good or better musically. And ABB both founded and transcended the genre.

It would have been interesting to see what Lynyrd Skynyrd would have done if RVZ had lived.

Musically, I think ABB is the more talented group from an overall catalog perspective. Both were so damn good live.

That is the wording I was looking for, but scrapped what I was going to say. Transcended the genre is a great way to put it.

Ronnie was a much, much better songwriter than Gregg and Dickey. I think, however, that the ABB was able to meld a lot more genres in to an authentic sound - just listen to In Memory of Elizabeth Reed, Mountain Jam, or Hot 'Lanta, for example - and possessed greater musical cohesiveness. Their initial run with Duane and Berry alive, though, left a bit to be desired in terms of original work - but what they did put out (ESPECIALLY live) beats the dogshit out of any other band I've ever heard.

Ronnie got the absolute most out of that band. He demanded everyone in it took it seriously and he worked the hell out of them. That show in Knebworth opening for the Stones showed their live chops and what they were as a band then. Where he could have taken them, particularly in broadening their music would have been interesting.

This was at Knebworth in 1976. Blew that place up. Mick Jagger initially refused to go on stage after them.

Meh.........although I'll check it out, the one I link below is pretty damn good. It's 28 minutes long, but is heartfelt and telling. I won't get into a pissing contest about whether or not they were the GOAT Southern Rock band and all that, I just know I loved and still love their music.

Survivors first hand accounts and story of plane crash

eta: and to elcid who posted above, yeah, that Oakland show and their live performance of Freebird there is pretty awesome to watch to this day.
