Did the officers talk with your daughters or the neighbors?

How old are your kids?

I’m no expert, but if they’re over a certain age, can’t they decide where they want to live?

I absolutely 100% believe him. Men get hit with charges like this all the time. More times than not they believe whatever the woman says

I was in a similar situation 15 years ago. My attorney told me our judge had a track record of siding with the mom regardless of circumstances. I knew the kids were more of a nuisance to her party life than anything else but, she didn't want to lose child support. So, with the help of her mother I convinced her she had no chance in court but, if she'd sign over custody I'd continue paying her. It worked.

People who do the right thing, especially men, are punished more than anyone in this country now.

Unfortunately the fact that you are a good dad, a provider, and ARE ACCESSIBLE makes you a target. If you were a piece of shite that abandoned them, the cops wouldn't care.

My heart hurts for you. I’ve not been divorced but I can say without reservation I’d do anything for my kids, especially in that situation.

A Dad who wouldn’t come when a kid is asking for help aint a Dad.

Hope you navigate the stormy seas and you get resolution.

I hate that men get raked over the coals.

Moral of story…. Don’t be a divorced parent with kids you love
do everything you can to not have the courts/cops involved in your life

Prayers to all that don't have a choice, because it sucks and they do things that blow your mind and are never in the best interest of the children.

Always remember grandparents have NO RIGHTS to your kids.

Speak to a lawyer and request all body cams from the officers, all 911 calls, all reports, etc. This will help you with the charges and hopefully you’ll be able to hold the police accountable.

Back the blue until it happens to you. I know police are in tough positions with domestic situations but it’s BS for them to make up charges to get the male away. It happens ALL THE TIME. They need to be held accountable. You can support the police and still expect to have your rights respected and the law followed.

Police are taught to get the man away from the house. This happens all the time. Charges will eventually be dropped but they got the “bad man” away from the house for a night.

Anytime this happens, have your cellphone video recording. Video doesn’t lie. Even if it’s just the sound, you’ll have a record of it.

She helped write laws that basically give the woman everything and the man gets nothing in these child custody proceedings. Such a strong liberal woman that worked to tear down the family unit and hurt children of divorced parents.

She’s a pos.

But, in the bigger picture, the biggest factor to cause Family Courts and Child Support to be so brutal to dads is a thing called Title IV-D of the social security act. It’s been twisted so many times over several presidencies, beginning with Clinton, that it incentivizes the state family court judges to make custodial time lopsided and to collect child support from the breadwinner parent (historically, this was usually dad) rather than give the kids equal custody with each parent, even when both parents are equally available, fit, willing, and fully capable of being good parents to the kids. A judge will pick out a reason often times arbitrarily to make custody lopsided so the state can annually collect from the federal govt ..get this.. 29¢ on every dollar used in support enforcement. This is why support enforcement is in a different courtroom.

Family law is a crooked kangaroo court when it comes to sorting out custody. They aren’t interested in the best interest of the child. Don’t let them lie to you. They are in it for max profit. Max conflict. Max litigation. Max billable hours. The whole thing is a racket. And all it does is harm the children when they prolong and inflame conflict between the parents for max legal profit and that annual federal title IV-D money.

Take it to trial and subpoena the officers. Something similar happened to me during my divorce 10 years ago. I was told it's sort of an unwritten policy at BRPD to take someone into custody during domestic type incidents.

Common sense, although in short supply throughout much of human history, is non-existent today. I hope the DA throws out the charge but with this bunch, who the hell knows.

I believe there are support groups out there that advocate for father’s rights. Try to contact one and see what resources may be available to you.

Just a thought….the next time you are with your children ask them to write down what is happening. Record what they tell you. It may help you down the road. If you, or they, can document these incidents as they occur, it may reach a point where it cannot be ignored.

I don’t have personal experience with such things but do have a cousin and a friend who were in similar situations and put through the wringer in St. Tammany.
