ERCOT is asking Texans to conserve power this weekend due to high temperature and six power generation facilities tripping offline. This looks like it may be the hottest May in ERCOT history. Texans are urged to conserve power when they can by setting their thermostats to 78 degrees or above and avoiding the usage of large appliances (such as dishwashers, washers and dryers) during peak hours between 3 p.m. and 8 p.m. through the weekend. You can view ERCOT's official statement below.

I’ve worked in power generation and 6 power plants tripping sounds highly unusual. I realize it’s a pretty hot May but if we can’t get through May, how in the hell are we going to get through another 3-4 months? I’m new to Texas so not used to seeing these warnings. Are these warnings normal?

Texas has a completely independent power
grid that isn’t connected to any other state or federal system.

Not surprising, but you have no idea what you're talking about. ERCOT has been shitting the bed for years as the population of TX increases.

Kindly shut the frick up.

So what’s the obvious conclusion?

The commies have infiltrated Texas state politics, of course!

Thanks, Austin, and other pan-sexual sky screamers for your complete lack of rationality when it comes to energy policy. “We can just dream of endless ‘clean energy’ and it’ll appear in the magic wires of my house.”

You and 5 million others new Texans, which is part of the issue. Funny when Portland transplants realize it's actually hot and dry as hell here.

Prepare yourself for 5 months of 100 degree days and zero rain. Stock up on water and get a generator.

I genuinely don’t know if you are being serious here.

The whole point of having power is so your house is not 78 degrees or higher.

Dead serious with a dash of sassy.

Even in red states (especially those with a strong streak of blue), energy policy is held hostage by fantasy thinking about energy usage and production, and by the ignoramus panic over “climate change”.
