Gotchya. But Batgirl is a mens watch correct? Is it just that jubilee is typically on ladies watches?

Yes, the Batgirl is a man's watch it is the same watch as the Batman just with a different bracelet.

It's a Zulu Diver and has some stretch to it which makes it super comfortable

Some people think the jubilee looks more feminine. I don't see it.

How long is the wait on a Daytona from an AD?
As the saying goes... You don't choose the Rolex, the Dealer chooses you."
As stated, wait depends on the relationship (money spent) and location. To get a 116500 Daytona fairly quickly one would likely have to spend $75K-$100K, some have spent that still waited 1-2yrs.
There are people on the Rolex forum that are still waiting for "the call" 5years later. Some have even stooped to bringing in coffee and donuts to staff every couple months.

What is considered “big” for the purposes of this experiment?
It really depends on history and timing. I spent around 5k at a local jeweler, and that year I walked in and asked if they’ve seen an Explorer I come in lately, I dealt with the same salesman as my previous purchase. It was pure coincidence that they had one coming in the next day and he let me buy it. That same day I went to a different jeweler that I don’t have a history with and asked about the same watch, they took my info down and I haven’t heard from them over a year later.

That doesn’t bode well. I’m pretty much a nobody so unless I can wrangle a pity-sale I doubt I will be getting “the call”.
We did get our wedding China from the AD though. Unfortunately that was almost 20 years ago.

The hoops people jump through for a Daytona are crazy to me.
A moonwatch is every bit as good of a chronograph IMO, with arguably more heritage and historical significance, for around half the cost and very attainable.
Sure, resale wouldn’t be the same, but if it’s a piece you plan to keep forever then it seems like a no brainer to avoid the hassle.

Don't feel bad, the LARGE majority are in the same boat. It's is why so many go to second hand market.
But to be honest there are better watches that can be had for the over retail Rolex in many instances.

You just have to get lucky. I waltzed into a shop in cancun and walked out with a jubilee/fluted datejust. Went to probably 30+ rolex stores in 7-8 countries over the past few years. Have only been offered a watch just walking in three times

Paying double the retail price on the gray market is better than waiting five years. Or even two years. For the money you save you could be enjoying your watch right now.
