Any of y’all remember going as a kid in 70s/80s. My grandparents lived in Angie back then and we’d always head up there on the weekends.
Those ribs/steak fries/sauce could not be beat

Also Applehead? Singing at the tables
And the curtain/door restrooms

Good times

Also I remember, everyone in Leatha’s family never skipped a meal and that floor was always creaking

Never went to the newer one

I know the ambiance in the old shack was hard to replicate

I remember driving up and seeing the people working around the archaic smoke shacks, the smell just incredible. We only went a couple times but it was as good as it gets. All family and friend run iirc.

Had some great meals at Leatha’s in Hattiesburg. Chef Brian and the staff were always hospitable. Wish I could have made it to Foxworth.

actually went to high school at West Marion in Foxworth. still looking for better BBQ ! the head people from Chevron from Houston would come in to Columbia and that is only place they wanted to eat so that says alot. should of enjoyed it more often but it was a great experience and great eating all the way around. fond memories thinking about apple head.

We stopped at this one on the way to the Bama game in 2019. It wasn't very good. Seemed like it was running on the fumes of its old reputation.

I lived in Columbia and we went to Leatha's in Foxworth often. Some of Leatha's family worked for my dad at one point. They still remembered us years later when we went to the one in Hattiesburg.

The dishrags as napkins, the scale on the piano to weigh meat, the chickens running around outside, man that place was awesome! I wish they had a BBQ place here in BR like Leatha's.

My wife's cousin had Letha's BBQ (Hattiesburg) catered for their rehearsal dinner a long time ago

It's a thillah... thillah niiigh...

It was fun going to the old place to see all the nice, expensive vehicles pulled up in what would otherwise be considered to be a sketchy-as-shite area.

The only thing as impressive as the BBQ was the woman (can't remember her name) who never wrote an order down but remembered the entire table's order.

One of the last times we went, not long after they moved into Hattiesburg, we had a group of something like 15 or so people. She went around the table taking everyone's food and drink orders, then when done she repeated each one back as she pointed to each person. I never knew her to get an order wrong.

After Leatha passed, I think the family tried to keep it going for a while but none seemed to have her ability to run a restaurant. I think it closed around COVID.

I believe that was Leatha’s daughter Bonnie, who ran the restaurant from 2009 - 2015. She was amazing!

I'm still amazed that I grew up upper middle class in metro New Orleans and had no idea what good BBQ was until I moved to Milwaukee in my early 30's.

Having my first smoked ribs was life changing.
