Shemp led the way for guys like Chevy Chase and Murray.

That's a commitment. Some of those moves in that skit I posted were insane.

ree. I'm a big fan of the 3 stooges, but shemp was horrible. When I record the series, I skip the shemp episodes.

You are an idiot. Shemp was perhaps the most talented of the three Howard brothers. He actually got standard character parts in legit movies. He was very funny. Shemp and curly were different flavors but both extremely funny.

I bet you haven't even watched any shemps.

Little known to most...Jerome curely Howard was the youngest of the bros. His nickname was babe in real life. He wore long curly hair which he later shaved bald for the character. Jerome was quite a ladies man irl and it depressed him to have to shave his head.

Did African-Americans call him "Skemps"?

When Curlies came on, I'd go outside and shoot my BB gun.

How many times can ya laugh at a guy saying "whoop whoop whoop whoop whoop whoop whoop whoop whoop"?

Not to mention Shemp easily could have been a legit Dick Tracy villain.

But, his fear of flying was crippling. It was so bad that when the three stooges toured, they would have to travel across the country by train.

To be fair, back then flying was nowhere near as safe as it is today. None of the Stooges grew up in an era when commercial aviation was routine, and train travel was by far more popular than it is today. Interstates would not exist for another 30 years or so.

No, that's a fair point. I agree.

I'm not knocking Shemp at all. I always thought he was the foundation, the backbone, of their act.

He was a highly regarded ballroom dancer. This, along with his pie throwing prowess, made him irresistible to women.

It's weird. I hate slapstick yet, I can't turn off the stooges when they come on TV.
