You must have recently purchased in Orleans.

they 03 has some iffy areas, but the 06 is pretty nice all around. All of metairie North of 1-10 is pretty good. I know you have those iffy apartments on Kent, but other than that from Power to the 17th canal and south to I10 is all really nice. I do see the areas between Roosevelt and Causeway south of W. Metaire getting worse, but still not bad. Lots of older people.
I do see the section 8 landlords creeping in though. Section 8 does hold to a higher standard than slum lords though (mandatory quarterly inspections of all property)
Any zip code in Metaire is safer than any zip code in NOLA, except for maybe 70124 (lakeview). If you live in 115 that includes Milan and half of Central city, if you live in 118 that includes Hollygrove and Gert town.
I don't think Metaire is 'unsafe' at all.
Then much of the crime (including recent double homicide in the 005) is from NOLA people.
I love NOLA, I also love being able to call my public works department, say my street has a crack and see it get fixed within a month, and being able to call the police and not have to wait three hours.

To add, i have been in 70006 for four years. All near east jeff hospital. Only crime i have seen with me or my neighbors is some petty theft by some teenagers. So one incident in four years. Not bad.

White people actually live in the Wank.
Wank actually has some very exclusive neighborhoods.
I know the East has "eastover" ( I call it heaven's ghetto, as it has so many empty million dollar homes that are falling apart)
The wank has English Turn, Timberlane, Barkley, and some smaller ones. The wank has Marrero which brings it down but Terrytown is pretty family friendly and the Timbers area of ALgiers has very nice homes for less than $200k.

Anytime I'm on the Wank I feel dirty and out of place. Probably BC i don't have any piercings, tats and don't wear a flat bill.

The apartments on the I-10 Service Road (north of 10) between Clearview and Causeway aren't exciting (Danny, Taft, Belmont, etc.). I also have concerns about Little Central America (Division and Hessmer near Fat City), and I run down Lake between Vets and the lake on the weekends. The apartments on Lake are fine (now) but they aren't upscale and it isn't hard to imagine that area getting worse.
I'm hoping that city/parish folks are on top of those areas.

What about the apts off Apollo Dr at the Vets offramp? Windmill Creek and others near it? How are they these days?

That's where I'm at now. There are a lot of UNO students keeping Lake reasonable. If UNO were to shut down it would go to shite with quickness.

That area is pretty bad now. Switched over after the cane

I've never heard it called the cane. Sounds like something they would say on a HBO made for TV show.

Have you seen some of the crap that has been and will be built on Northline since Katrina?
I wouldn't call it crap, gaudy maybe, not crap....
Can you afford that Northline crap...?
