I thought about it, but what if my second wife wants children? Is this reversible?

Recovery was fine. When they clipped the tube on the right side it was pain unlike any pain I’ve felt before. A different dimension of pain. I didn’t know that kind of pain existed. If they did the right side first i would have told them to leave the left side alone.

I don’t know - maybe they missed or forgot the local on that side.

Make sure you go somewhere where they give you the gas.

The only issue I had, was with the Valium they gave me to take before hand. I have a low tolerance to certain meds and was loopy after. Wife had a laugh at that.

No swelling, I had it the day before we got snow in 2017, so I just sat in the yard. I might have taken 1 of the pain meds they gave me for after, if that.

The stitch can be uncomfortable a few days after.

Took less than 20 mins. No problems at all 8 years later.

That's where my story gets interesting. I had my procedure done in February of 2020. Covid comes and cancels all unnecessary Dr. appointments so I don't go back for the semen screen.

A couple of months later I get a $800 bill for the semen screening. (The additional cost for the screening was not discussed when consulting for the procedure)

I call and explain that the appointment was canceled and they wipe the bill.

Fast forward about a year later and on a drunken night I let it go thinking another kid wouldn't be the worst thing. My wife did not get pregnant.

5 years and many "tests" later and apparently it worked.

I told that story to my vet and he said he could test it for $40. That's what he charges for male dogs, bulls and stud horses.

Nothing to it, just take it easy for a couple days after. The following day I was bored at home so I cut the yard and washed my truck. Nuts swole up a good bit from all the moving around but an ice pack that night took care of it. No pain at all.

Doctor told me after 30 ejaculations to get a sample tested, so after a few weeks I had the wife jerk me off into a sample cup and off to the doctor's office we went. Sample came back clean and I've been firing at will ever since.

Nothing to it at all. The doctor gave me Valium before the procedure which took 15-20 minutes. A slight discomfort when they stitch it back closed, but very slight. I drove home and ate pancakes at IHOP after. Don’t do anything for the next 3 days as instructed or you will have problems. I know a couple of guys that didn’t listen and had issues. I laid around all weekend with frozen peas on my junk watching the LSU super regional. It was a simple and pain free deal for me. 10/10 do it

It is not risk free for men to have a vasectomy. A new, large study from SSI has found that vasectomised men have a 15% higher risk of developing prostate cancer.

The study, which was recently published in the scientific journal “Journal of The National Cancer Institute” (JNCI), sheds light on the most common type of cancer among men.

“Prostate cancer is a poorly understood cancer type. We know too little about the causes of the disease, but it has long been suspected to be associated with male reproductive health. Previous studies have reported poor semen quality and infrequent ejaculation to be associated with an increased risk of developing prostate cancer. Now, we have investigated whether vasectomy might have an impact as well,” says Medical Doctor Anders Husby from SSI, who is behind the new study.

SSI study

Danish study

quote:

Methods: We established a cohort of all Danish men (born between 1937 and 1996) and linked information on vasectomy, doctor visits, socioeconomic factors, and cancer from nationwide registries using unique personal identification numbers. Incidence risk ratios for prostate cancer by time since vasectomy and age at vasectomy during the follow-up were estimated using log-linear Poisson regression.

Results: Overall, 26 238 cases of prostate cancer occurred among 2 150 162 Danish men during 53.4 million person-years of follow-up. Overall, vasectomized men had an increased risk of prostate cancer compared with nonvasectomized men (relative risk = 1.15, 95% confidence interval = 1.10 to 1.20). The increased risk of prostate cancer following vasectomy persisted for at least 30 years after the procedure and was observed regardless of age at vasectomy and cancer stage at diagnosis. Adjustment for the number of visits to the doctor and socioeconomic factors did not explain the association.

Conclusions: Vasectomy is associated with a statistically significantly increased long-term risk of prostate cancer.

This is all good to hear. My wife has been off birth control for medical reasons for years. It’s time for the condoms to come off.

Edit - Goddamnit, TigerintheNO.

Not bad. And you can paint guts with impunity afterwards. Highly recommend.

Procedure and initial recovery was fine. But my right nut was sore for a few weeks and would randomly swell up. I took a mega dose of anti inflammatories for a week and that knocked it out and it never came back.

Well, you will remember the smell of cauterizing the incision. I do. And, the first ejaculation afterwards was outstanding. I did notice less fluid ongoing.

I don’t know what others experience because it wasn’t a normal topic in my crowd.

Zero issues, they put me completely under for the 15m? it took. I climbed into my buddy's lifted 250 straight from the wheelchair they forced me to use. The biggest issue was finding a long enough period to abstain in order to use the $40 test.

Actually, not true. I went to use the restroom and thought all the gauze went my underwear and shorts. It did not, and I had to make a trip to buy a snake and clean it out. That was 2nd? day post op.

the worst part was when they hooked the vas with the knitting needle and pulled it to the incision. it wasn't painful, but the tug was disconcerting. i was trying to follow by levitating, but he told me to relax. no pain during or after. short recovery time where you're justified watching tv on the sofa, and back to normal. Says she still can't taste the sucrose.

Procedure itself is not fun, but not bad.
Doc was training some nurses during mine. Funny to hear him describe it as he’s doing it. “See, it looks like spaghetti”. I made it a point to complain about it being too cold in the room.

2-3 days of feeling like I was kicked in the nuts. Limit movement, and you’ll be fine. I just went with frozen peas, and they did the trick.

Can now frost ovaries with 100% confidence. The peace of mind is priceless.

It's easy. I wasn't put to sleep because I wasn't paying extra for that. I wouldn't say I had discomfort, but I was just paranoid I was going to bust the stitches. So do it during a work week where you can just sit alone and not worry about getting up 12 times for kids or whatever. Boners still happen and no pain whatsoever. Can't even tell anything was done actually.

The biggest cop out of a man EVER.

It is literally letting your wife or whatever take your fricking right to reproduce.

No thank you, just unreal yall do this.

Tell that bitch to get her shite tied after the last kid.

It really does boggle my mind how any man would do this.
