Sell it while it's still worth something and get a non-CVT.
easier said than done nowadays. That being said Toyota is the only automaker that actually make a good reliable CVT. Others are ok. Nissans especially the Altima's are complete garbage. Sell that thing while you can.

not really a myth. The new oil is very thin and has a lot of detergents in it that can eat away build up and leak where as the older oil has become much thicker and less harsh on the metals. Mechanic shops wouldn't just turn down money if it didn't cause issues.
not trying to start an argument but I've heard this all of my life and I've never had that experience or ever heard of anyone that I know ever have that experience

Yep. Don’t change it. I have a Nissan Altima too
I’ve never changed the oil in any vehicle I owned. Not one problem ever. On the average about 200k miles.

Yes it is.
Owner of Covington Automotive told me a couple of years ago, “I don’t care who you bring it to, DO NOT let anyone flush the transmission.
Have the trans pan dropped and install only Nissan factory parts and fluid.
Ordered everything on the list on line, as listed by a guy on YouTube

As another poster recommended, get a proper transmission service by AgCo Automotive.
Read these articles written by the owner of the shop on what a proper transmission service is

Great people. They won't flush though because they say a drain and fill is the best option.

I believe that to be a myth
I don't think it is a myth, but it is exaggerated.
The change in ph and less friction than with the dirty fluid can lead to leaks and slipping.

We’re at 109k miles. Former rental car. Typical issue that I’ve experienced is the minor tranny slipping ever so slightly at low speeds when accelerating. I wouldn’t mind the slight peace of mind knowing that maybe doing a fluid change could make things a little better for the time being.
We’ve been trying to hold out on upgrading either cars availability for what we’re looking for is extremely thin.
At this point I would rather keep riding, let the transmission go out for good, and pay $5k for a new transmission so I can put another 100k on it/sell it later on when the market hopefully gets better.

If it’s the same owner as 10 years ago then Louisiana transmission on plank Road is the best answer.

Previous Honda CRV, no filter to change and no way to drain. It's a recirculation filtration sort of change

For your Tranny need to ask Rachel Levine.
