He should get roasted because he’s a moron- his forgiveness went though PSLF which is a bush-era law and would have occurred irrespective of administration.

I can’t think of anything more demeaning than a grown man having his F’in pronouns in his bio.

PLSF has been in place for many years. Based on his loan disbursement dates, this is about when he would have gotten full forgiveness, assuming he met the requirements (i.e., worked in a qualifying job and made all his regular payments for 10 years), regardless of who is president. It was actually expanded in 2018 under Trump and DeVoss.

Melt.

Thanks to the save plan I'll be paying $400 instead of $1000 a month for another 5 years and will qualify for the same. 100k gone if approved.

Were you confused about how loans are supposed to work when you borrowed the money?

His hobbies don't change the fact that he satisfied the 10 years of service and payments required for loan forgiveness. I'm less than a year out for ~200k of forgiveness.

After 10 years of payments and working are you OK with my mortgage being forgiven creating a burden on inflation and the economy?

Did you not understand how loans work?

Yes, hence why I'm getting the government sponsored forgiveness when I signed up for them years ago, knowing that if I followed this path the loans would be forgiven. Does your mortgage have the option to work in the government sector for less money and make 10 years of payments? If so, then yeah, you should be forgiven.

In his defense, PSLF is actually a condition of the loan. Part of the reasoning is along the lines of “it will encourage people into public service/government jobs that are lower paying.”

So, this is actually an appropriate plan to pay off loans made at the time of taking them out in many cases.

Yeah, this is not the hill to die on. Lots of doctors and pharmacists take advantage of this. My wife is a director of pharmacy for a for-profit hospital that just got bought by a bigger hospital group that is non-profit. Now her younger pharmacists that have lots of debt can work for 10 years with the new hospital and get $100k forgiven. Unfortunately, pharmacy school is expensive as frick and it’s not uncommon for some to graduate with over $200k of debt.

The scammers have already started. I got an email saying I was eligible for my college loan forgiveness. They just needed some additional information and gave a link to click here to go to the site .

As I never had any student loans I deleted the email

Thought to ponder: would there be less outrage if instead of loan forgiveness, there was a program that paid out, say, $100k in a lump sum to people who work a qualifying public service job for 10 years?

I find it odd that the same people who claim 18 year olds can’t fully understand how a loan works are the same ones who claim a preteen can consent to gender reassignment.

10 years is far too short of a time to earn a little less to get $200K forgiven.

I bet you look down on people using LA purchase cards, though.
