In a post on Saturday on his social media platform Truth Social, Donald Trump claimed that the tariffs will help reduce income tax for people, with the potential for being ‘completely eliminated’ for some.
The focus will be on those who earn less than $200,000 a year, he said.

Good way for middle managers to quit their jobs and go back to senior level positions.

Are you stupid enough to actually think anything close to that will actually happen

This will backfire on people who want it eliminated across the board.
Right now all salary ranges are in agreement here. Take out this group, and they'll be out of the fight completely. Won't care about others. It's like the welfare people. They don't care about income tax breaks, cause they don't pay in. Unless it benifits them somehow, they don't care.
A flat % set tax for all, and get people off the govt cheese is the best for society long term imo.

I'm actually happy for the people who don't have to pay shite as long as I don't have to pay more to cover the difference.

This will never happen.
Agreed but this also will never happen unfortunately. Not while we’re alive at least.

Also, you won’t like how high that rate would have to be. As much as the talking point of the rich paying their fair share is used, they really do pay the overwhelming majority of taxes.

We need to implement a consumption tax for everyone and eliminate the IRS.

Taxes going down.

Millions just went from filing married to filling single jointly

I’d need to know how this is planned.
If the first 200k isn’t taxed then taxes on dollars after, that’s still an upgrade.

Tariffs is pretty much the way the federal government was funded up to 1913

Our government is pretty analogous to the 1913 government as well

If you would have read your Project 2025 manual then would know what tax breaks are coming your way.
