Universal Studios announces brand new park for Orlando - "Epic Universe".

Universal Orlando Resort is opening a brand new theme park, and we’ve got all the details. While keen-eyed folks in Orlando noticed that construction was already underway on something on a huge plot of land that Universal Orlando Resort purchased, they made it official today: it’s the site of their fourth theme park, called Epic Universe, and it’s their most ambitious theme park yet.
The stated vision of this new gate is “to create an entirely new level of experience that forever changes theme park entertainment.” Universal’s Epic Universe will take guests on a journey where beloved stories expand into vibrant lands – and where that journey is as much a part of their adventure as the ultimate destination.

As for what IP specifically will be housed in Epic Universe, that’s officially under wraps for now. But we know for a fact that Universal Orlando has plans for Nintendo World, and construction plans for that area in Universal Studios Florida was abruptly halted a couple years ago. That would seem to suggest they decided to move Nintendo World to this new park. Other rumored areas revolve around the Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Jurassic World franchises, but again right now nothing is confirmed and these rumors could end up being false.

I don't understand what this even means but it sounds incredible.

Vivendi made a HUGE mistake when they went cheap after buying Universal. Comcast at least understands what they need to even pretend to compete with the Mouse.
They are building on a site they once owned that was 2000 acres of contiguous property. Vivendi sold the property thinking they would never have a need for another park. They ended up buying less than half the land (Under 600 acres) they once owned for twice the price with a lot of random holes in the property that have been developed.

If by incredible you mean standing in long lines with fat people.

The OT loves to hate on the Disney crowd, but the typical Universal Studios patron is much trashier than the typical Disney patron.

There's nothing left. Disney has bought it all.
I went there a couple months back with the fam. I was taken aback with how much they'd spent on the Marvel land full of X-Men, Spider-Man, Fantastic Four - everything that Universal/Fox had the rights to at some point. But after Disney picked up Fox's assets, it's amazing to me how much money was poured into Universal's parks for shite they don't own.
There's also a full-blown Simpsons land there. Funny as well that every Simpsons episode ever will be available on Disney's streaming service this fall.

at one point they were talking about doing a Nintendo themed park, but it looks like they decided to expand on that idea rather than limit it to strictly nintendo stuff.
I saw somewhere that they will likely have Mario, Donkey Kong, and Pokemon IPs at this new place along with Dreamworks, Fantastic Beasts, Land Before Time, and Universal Classic Monsters.

But will they build a sports complex to host the travel ball world series?

Universal has the rights to marvel rides east of the Mississippi.
I think until 2025.

They own Dreamworks and Universal and there is still a lot of content up for grabs to translate to a theme park.
As to Marvel, the contract is pretty much in Universal's favor. https://www.orlandoweekly.com/Blogs/archives/2015/05/22/making-sense-of-disney-and-universals-messy-joint-custody-of-marvel

The economy is just so bad that they are building more theme parks and hotels in Orlando. /sarcasm.

My client used to own that land. Oh well.

Nintendo, freakin Pokémon has an ungodly following by itself. Super Nintendo World is going here.
Other worlds are another WWHP probably based on Fantastic Beasts and probably LOTR.
They have other big anime names they could go after such as Gundam and DBZ, but I doubt they will do it.
Marvel is going to stay stuck in limbo. They own the rights to it on this side of the Mississippi, but can’t make anything new without Disney approval. They can’t even change the world they have in Islands of Adventure without approval. Eventually the buyout will happen I am sure.
Dreamworks with how to train your dragon and the new shrek reboot could happen.
Illumination stuff like Secret Life of Pets.
Could do a new Nickelodeon world, freakin Paw Patrol by itself could rake in some money on toddlers.
