A portion of these should be reallocated to the Coast Guard for counter-trafficking operations.
This is actually a fantastic idea

Turn the gun into a big arse water cannon for firefighting. That would be badass.

USAF needs to give the A-10’s to border patrol.

That would end illegal immigration over night.

The Air Force has introduced the "Super A-10"

The aircraft is going nowhere in the near term...

I don't know if you've seen video of the Russia-Ukraine war, but they're trotting out Cold War-era equipment and in an all-out war both countries would send wave after wave of humanity to win a war of attrition.

what battlefield was the A10 designed for? Stopping the Russians from going west?

Exactly. The Russians had far more armor and infantry than we had in NATO so we needed a counter to that. The two main answers were the A-10 and the CBU-97 (later upgraded to the CBU-105) that contained the Sensor Fuzed Weapon (SFW) that has an IR seeker that detects the heat from a tank's engine compartment and then fires an explosively formed projectile at that heat source. Each CBU canister contains 40 SFWs. Very effective weapon.

CSB...I dropped 2 on an Iraqi tank column that was threatening to overrun a Marine Infantry Company in OIF. 1/3 of the column was destroyed and the rest came out of their tanks and surrendered to the Marines.

I am glad that after the F-35 JSF debacle they are having separate programs for NGAD and FA-XX

F-35 is as successful as any other fighter project. Pessimism and the emergence of the internet garnered hyper focus on it
