EVANGELINE PARISH, La. (KALB) - Evangeline Parish Sheriff’s Office said two people were arrested following an investigation into the reported theft of chickens from a secured chick coop in an unincorporated portion of Evangeline Parish.
EPSO said they responded to the scene in the 1000 block of Old Park Road on March 27. Following an investigation and review of security camera footage, authorities determined Brannon Buller, 33, of Ville Platte to be a suspect.
While investigating further, Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office reportedly contacted EPSO and told them that Buller was wanted for multiple chicken thefts in Allen Parish and that he was aided in the thefts by his girlfriend, Toni Leblue, 26, of Ville Platte.
Authorities said Buller and Leblue were placed in custody and both admitted to the theft. Detectives were reportedly able to recover some of the stolen chickens.
Leblue was charged with the following:
Three counts of principal to theft of livestock
She was reportedly booked into the Evangeline Parish Jail on a $30,000 bond.
Buller was charged with the following in Allen Parish:
One count of theft of livestock
One count of simple criminal damage to property
One count of misdemeanor theft
One count of criminal trespassing
He was reportedly booked into the Allen Parish Jail on a $40,000 bond and is awaiting extradition to Evangeline Parish.
An investigation is ongoing and EPSO said further charges and arrests are possible. EPSO asked anyone with information about this incident to contact the Investigative Division at (337) 363-2161.

This chick was in our chicken group on FB. Ain’t no drama like chicken drama. They were messaging people for their addresses pretending like they were buyers.

Best part is the comments of folks thinking we should bring back public hanging for some chicken thieves. Guys getting run over by drunk hit and run driver’s here in JD Parish and getting probation and these fools wanna hang these meth heads…

Chicks cost how much?
Seems like a pretty dumb thing to steal when with a coop and some feed you could have your own flock in a month or so

Chicks are cheap but laying hens are going for as much as $250-$300 each a few weeks ago.
Also it takes 6-8 months for chicks to start laying. I guess they wanted to capitalize on the egg shortage.

Now I can’t get “they stole my chickens” out my head. Appropriate place for the thefts though.

That’s gotta be one of the most Ville Platte stories I’ve ever read. Make it better with some mutt that had at least 1/3 pitbull mixed in to improve it.
