Isn't there an old military base near Alexandria where there are now concrete roads running through completely over grown forrest? I've heard it is or was cool.
what you're talking about is Camp Claiborne...drove through there a long time ago and the layout could readily be seen
There's another one called Camp Livingston.
Claiborne is sort of SW of Alexandria and Livingston is NE. You can camp at either location, and I have at both, but you have to bring everything as it's primitive camping. Both locations have some good atv trails, and that is the main reason why anyone would go.

The devil worshippers of Frenchtown Rd
Went back there a couple of weeks ago - the house is being rebuilt, but it looks like they are taking their time with it. The big house is no longer even visible from the gates it's so overgrown.

Great ATV trails. 50" width and 1" lugs rules still in effect?

Columbia Street - Downtown Bogalusa. A true ghost town.

Well that reddit post was an interesting read. I volunteer OP to go check it out for us since it looks like all of the photos from the reddit article have either expired or my browser is blocking them at work.

This is my property. My grandparents and dad lived there before it burned. We groomed the land for my wedding and I got married in front of the columns.
Blacked out my wife and I

Not really abandoned, though. That's a National Guard base, now.

"Satan School" in Shreveport aka Ellerebe Road School or George Washington Carver School when it opened. Growing up almost everyone knew about "Satan School". It has a serious Blair Witch Project vibe to it.

Are those your bees?
I don't know if you're kidding or not, but there is a bee keeper thing out there. We actually let someone do it for free I believe.
We also lease the land to livestock owners (and own a few ourselves).
The piece of land is massive and co-owned by members of the family. My dad gets hit up regularly to sell parts to developers and private entities trying to build home(s). That will likely never happen.
We tried to develop a golf course out there called Conrad Point without any homes attached, but the cost was too high because of the soil or something. That was when I was a wee little lad.
There was a Clark Gable movie filmed there called "Band of Angels" LINK and Clark stayed there in the guest wing. My dad remembers eating breakfast with him as a 5 year old.
I'm named after my relative who settled there originally nearly 200 years ago. Hint, my name is all over this link: LINK

I remember going to an old abandoned water treatment plant in the late eighties/early nineties in Westwego. Local kids called it the Org.
Algiers. Yes, we called it Org. Creepy place. the stories were devil worshipers sacrificed virgins there, and I believed it

Rode my bike there only once to check it out.

Hopefully your marriage doesn't also end up in ruins.
That's cool though, for real. I've always wanted to stop and go check it out up close.
