What do you say, Ice Chest or Cooler?

All my life I've been referring to it as an ice chest and so have all my friends and family. But lately I've been hearing many people call it a cooler...is it due to the part of the country they live in or is the name trending with younger folks?

Technically they are not the same. Coolers are more insulated

Probably 60/40. Not sure when it's a cooler or an ice chest. I just blurt out one of them.

Ice chest. A cooler is a big industrial size walk-in refrigerator.

Ice chest is correct. Cooler implies that the “ice chest” is actively cooling, other than just holding ice.

Well, that's my point. It all has to do with what region you're from. Most in south Louisiana call it an ice chest.
