It’s basically just a suburb of Austin full of suburb things. Anything enjoyable will be 30 minutes away minimum.

it's close enough to commute from SA, Aus & New Braunfels all of which have lots of attractions from good schools, neighborhoods, fun stuff to do and decent cost of living(in certain areas)

i think it depends on what stage of life you're in. meaning, if you're asking about schools and neighborhoods in buda, i can't answer that. I can say in SA & Austin there are good schools and there are good neighborhoods all over within 45 mins of Buda.

i'd rather live in New Braunfels than Buda/Kyle but the area is fantastic for it's proximity to everything. i'd go south a lot more than north. School district in NB offered me a job for 20k less than i'm making now, and i had to think long and damn hard before turning it down. the towns themselves are not "amazing" but they have everything you need and are 50 miles from everything you could want.

Down South on Main has pretty good food, one of few places to find Boudin Balls around here. I go up there about once a month for work, locals seem to like the area, it has grown unbelievably in the last 10 to 15 years.

Ran my freshman year track conference meet there. Warming up for the 5k I ran by the river and noticed the talent for the first time. Took everything within me not to transfer right then and there.

Its growing like crazy. Great neighborhoods, some cool live music joints. Alot of the Texas Country Artists live in Buda/Kyle. Traffic into austin sucks during the workweek.

Cool Live music joint, Buck's backyard. I am moving out of Austin To New Braunfels . That whole corridor from NB through San Marcos to Buda/Kyle is more my speed. Austin has changed to the point where I don't enjoy minus the outdoor stuff.

Go to NB or San Marcos. Austin has become overrated and I live here.

There is only one two 9 mile stretches of country. that's it. It will be another Metroplex within 20 years.

Former home of Manny Gammage's Texas Hatters (now in Lockhart). Lots of famous people had custom cowboy hats made there. They used to make the Longhorn Band hats before Stetson got the contract.

I bought a snazzy $500 burnt-orange hat (think Clint Eastwood in Westerns) about 25 years ago that I wore to many a Longhorn football game.

That place has changed so much since then; it's ugly terrain, though.

That's all I have, sorry.

A friend has a ranch outside of Buda. It seems like a great place every time I’m there. Very busy along 35 but very small to wish away from 35.
