That was a big topic in the 70's.Africanized-Killer Bees coming up from Mexico.

It was big in the 90s too. I remember seeing specials on tv about it. The bees would attack at the smallest provocation. So much so that the specials would show a dramatized clip of a man cutting his grass. The sound of the lawnmower would anger the bees and frick him up. Or some kids playing around at tree, and the bees ruin little Timmy's day by sending him to the hospital.

In the 90s we had to worry about Africanized killer bees, running out of clean drinking water, global warming, Y2K, the hole in the ozone layer caused by the chlorofluorocarbons in mom's Aquanet, the AIDs epidemic where they made it sound like everyone was going to catch AIDs at some point...

A couple of years ago we were told that Crazy Ants were taking over. Are Crazy Ants still a thing?

Africanized bees are still around, they just aren't as dangerous around here as people think. The colonies are as aggressive or calm as their queen is. If a "regular" (Italian,Russian, etc) queen that isn't Africanized takes over than they will lose some aggressiveness. They are usually only going to be aggressive around a hive. If you walk around a bunch of "killer bees" out in a field while they are pollinating they aren't gonna mess with you just like a normal bee wouldn't.

He only had a Tee Shirt on under his white suit. They got him on the arms where the suit was pressed against his skin.

“Africanized” was the term that was used to describe the hybrid angry bees.

The sad thing is we knew of this effect in bees decades before we let it happen to humans.

Anyone here old enough to remember a made for TV movie called Savage Bees.

The bees started attacking people in New Orleans and spoiler alert they get a hive on Volkswagen Beatle and take to the Superdome and use the air conditioners in the dome to get below 45 degrees which killed the killer bees.

I remember watching it on TV when it came on.

I watched that crap as the ABC movie of the week when I was a kid. I still point out any orange / red Volkswagen as the bee car from that movie

the car broke down on the way to the SuperDome

Then they "froze" the bees on the 35 yrd line
