What happened to Carhartt pants?

I had two pair of Carhartt work pants that I’ve probably had for 10+ years. They were my go to work and outdoor fiddling around pants - roomy in the legs and that thick canvas that would basically stand up by themselves when new. I loved those things but had finally worn them out and lost a little weight so I ordered a new pair of their “thick canvas work pants” online (stores don’t carry my inseam).
These things suck. The fabric is thin and they fit like a pair of tight jeans. WTF? Did I order the wrong style or is this what Carhartt has become?
Also, who still makes rugged tough pants so I can try them out? TIA.

Duluth has a lot of tough comfortable pants.

Could just be a different style than what you previously had.

A lot of workwear dropped majorly in quality when it became chic/en vogue.
They cut corners and moved productions overseas to increase margins, knowing that the clothes would primarily be worn by people who didnt care.

Sounds like they changed the styling. I feel ya. Had some Jos. A Bank pants that I loved. Got a new “exact same” pair. Nope. Fit completely different. I brought the old pants in. Store clerk that worked there for years told me that JAB changed the style like 3 years ago and that I’m SOL.

I still wear Carhartt pants at the deer camp. Can’t beat them for working on stands and feeders.

This. They knew they could sell more to the in crowd and didn't need to spend the money on quality when they could sell for quantity.

When those man bun wearing hipsters started wearing that stuff, they changed things to suit them.

They changed the style/design of their Force Flex shirts. They have a mesh like panel on each side and an annoying "pencil" slot on the pocket. I'm still seeing how they hold up compared to the original ones from years back. They're my favorite work type t-shirt, and it annoyed me when they changed. I like the short and long sleeve, so I hope they're still decent.

No shite. Who the hell wants skinny work pants?
Thanks for the input. I’ll try Duluth.

I wouldn’t have pegged you for a “skinny jeans” type of guy!

Don’t get me wrong, my butt looks fabulous in these so I may wear them to the microbrew….but they’re not very functional.

Hipster started wearing work clothes to appear like they are masculine and can do manual labor so the cathartic changed the style so the twinks can have cool work clothes to walk around in.

It isn’t just you. I’ve worn the same size pants my entire adult life. Have many old CH work britches that fit like a warm piece of puss. The new stuff my family got me for Christmas is way too tight and a terrible fit.
