What is the minimum age to go to a shooting range?

I have a 13 year old son that I would like to take to the shooting range but I know he is too young. I don’t have the option like others where they have property or can go to somebody’s property they know and shoot.

The one I am a member at allows me to take my 5 year old.

Call the range. I took my son to precision in BR when he was around that age and it wasn’t a problem.

Depends on the range.
I have seen younger than 13 at FRC.
As long as you are being safe and teaching him properly you should be fine.

I was probably 11 or 12 when I took the hunters safety class and we had to go to the range and qualify to shoot with a .22
I’d imagine your teenager would be fine going to the range with you as an immediate supervisor and chaperone

As others have said, call the range in advance to make sure, but I would be genuinely surprised to hear about a commercial range refusing a 13 year old accompanied by a parent.

damn! the pussification in this generation is real, when I was 13, I, and just about all of the baws my age, could qualify to be the American sniper
ETA: except we didn't have a book agent

We used to ride our bicycles to the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s range. 14 years old. With 30-06 ‘s on our backs.
Sometimes if the Sheriff was drinking and cooking at his place next door he would have us over to eat then give us a ride home. He was a great guy and we always brought him hindquarters and poule d’eau. RIP C.P. Rozands

St Bernard indoor (now closed sadly, I believe) allowed me to take my son when he was 7 or so.
Jefferson Gun Outlet does have age restrictions of either 18 of 21, I suppose because pistol only.
Those are the only ones I have experience with.

Ive taken kids to the public range many times. As long as there is an adult, its usually fine.

Isn’t that the one that had the shooting inside? I think I went to that one and they made you watch a video of all the rules and sign a lot of wavers.

I took my 13-year-old to Baker range to shoot and there was no issue

13 is too old in my opinion to start taking them to the range.
I have had my kids at 5 or 6 at the range. Shooting small arms and or ARs.
If the range has a problem with well behaved, well supervised kids at it find a different range.

NOT CLOSED. My buddy bought it with a couple of other dudes, completely redid it and it is open. Very nice.
