What scares me is they're dropping out of society all together. They aren't contributing anything worthwhile. Working at the dollar store to barely scrape by won't rebuild our failing infrastructure.

Not necessarily. Given social media and dating apps, sub-5 men aren't even considered human by women. 5 men are banging 2s and 3s. 6 men bang 3s and 4s, etc. 8, 9, and 10 men are taking the lion's share of the 6+ women sexually, even if they're not actually dating or marrying the 6s and 7s. If you're a 1-3 male, you'd better up your game through either finances or fitness, or you will never have a chance at sex without paying for it.

Think about how much of a challenge it was growing up trying to find stuff to get off to. All of us over the age of 35 have probably rubbed one out to the women's underwear section of a JC Penny catalogue. When Victoria's Secret starting sending out literature that was the jackpot. It was often times easier and much more gratifying to try and court a female to have sex with you.
Now think about how extremely easy it is for kids and teenagers to access any kind of full fledged hardcore porn vids you can imagine in seconds at a few clicks of a button on an inconspicuous little machine. And you can get your "socializing" through this same device. But these things are fraudulent. Empty, vapid imitations of what real life is supposed to be. This stunts personal development going forward.
This isn't surprising at all unfortunately.

I think your first two points were getting there, but I don't agree with your third point, or rather I don't agree that they're losers. It's more complicated than that, and we have to understand the world our boys and girls are growing up in these days.
We used to have to make do with the people around us. Now the whole world is open, and it's much easier to set unreal expectations. Both sexes need to have realistic standards and expectations. Sure, shoot your shot on the 10, but know that's a low percentage move. If you stay in your range, then your odds increase exponentially.
Like, I think my wife is beautiful, and she gets more and more beautiful every day. My wife thinks I'm handsome. We are both hugely attracted to each other, but we are also very honest with each other and ourselves. We both know where we are in the societal beauty standings, and we're both okay with that.

80% off the 27% number are likely under the age of 24, and some aren't virgins.
You could have 18, 19, 20 year olds in that study who were banging their girlfriend through out high school, but broke up with her and hasn't been laid since their 18th birthday.

I wonder if some of this is related to crackdowns on prostitution and that industry mostly moving to the safe confines of Onlyfans, etc.
Let's be honest, in the past any unattractive loser with $100+ in his wallet could get laid, even if they were somewhat picky.
I'm sure there are still prostitutes out there but they gotta be slim pickens, right? I mean why would a sex worker subject herself to that danger and misery when she can make way more money just setting up a camera in her bedroom to "work from home" giving j/o instructions?
