Is everyone seeing 3-5 day delays on packages? It seems like the Baton Rouge sorting facility is some kind of black hole. I have multiple priority shipped items that are just sitting at the BR sorting facility and have been for days.

They suck. I had a buddy from up north send me a care package of elk, mule deer and antelope priority or stat or whatever they call it. It came in 6 days late and rotten on my front porch. He'll get his money back from the shipping charges but they can't un rot the meat. I was so pissed/sad.

I have actual had good luck with usps recently. Everything shipped to me has arrived within the time window that was originally projected.

I think where the rub comes is when you are tracking the package using their software and the package looks like it will arrive early but then fails to do so. For whatever reason, that tracking software is seldom accurate. I think they should not provide that level of tracking information.

I mailed a USPS envelope with tracking this month from SE LA to North Carolina.

It arrived at the New Orleans Distribution Center on March 11. Sat there for 6 days and arrived in St. Rose on March 17.

It is now "Moving through network" to its next facility in and of course it is "arriving late".

It's the same in Atlanta. It's not just a Baton Rouge thing. It's a national problem. I foresee a public/private partnership with the FedEx/ups/dhl's of the world for a much reduced USPS department, maintaining it only in remote areas where FedEx/ups/DHL already rely on USPS to get out shipments.

It got bad in 2024. Mail gets here as late as 10PM

A friend moved to St. George from Lake Chuck and all their mail was going to a neighbor a few doors down. They are glad they left BTR and moved to Texas.

I ordered a new driver head from Ebay and it took nearly three weeks to deliver. Order was shipped Priority from Georgia and was sent to North Carolina. Had a similar item ordered from a different seller who shipped with FedEx from Alabama and I had it in hand in 48 hours.

I had USPS lose at least three packages over the last 6 months.

I posted a similar thread a few weeks ago. Tread carefully. There are a surprising number of people here who absolutely love the USPS and will defend it to the death.

Best explanation I heard is that USPS retired older Letter scanning machines in other parts of the country.

When This occurred, USPS took one modern Letter scanner from places that had multiple modern letter scanners to ensure that all USPS facilities had at least one modern letter scanner.

The movement of this affected delivery time and efficiency of letter processing across the nation.

Best part is that the mail carrier I heard this from Tried to blame Trump for the issue when it was carried out by the Biden administration in The summer of 2024

I purchased an item last month in eBay. Seller provided me with a tracking number of the item. It was sitting in a post office in OK since Feb. 12 and I just received it yesterday. Unheard of.
